Forest vs Derby train... oh dear

As you may know, last Friday saw Nottingham Forest play derby County away. Now what does that mean? It means you have to transport the rif-raf to derby somehow.

Unfortunately, they chose the 18:37 XC service from Nottingham to Birmingham New Street, which you may also know, was completely trashed before the match. 2 BTP officers were also injured.

According to the Evening Post (and through word of mouth to me) panels were ripped out, seats ripped, light fittings destroyed, and rather worryingly, apparently a particular person urinated in the saloon. How do I know that last bit you ask? Well, I have a rather challenging situation on my hands here, as apparently this was the father of a lad at my school (who earlier in the day had asked me to supply him with train times). Him and a load of mates were definately on that train, as they have been bragging all week about it. But as soon as I said today "you ought to be careful what you are saying", they have nothing to do with it, but still do the usual "don't grass mate, we didn't do ote". I am pretty convinced they had something to do with it. Should I report it? They are appealing for witnesses but I wasn't actually there so can't prove anything.

Was anyone on this train? I was intending to, as I was going to go and see 6Z37, but in the end couldn't be bothered. Kind of glad I didn't go...

Give them a call, and say that you know they were. They're commiting a criminal offence by withholding evidence.

I would report it, as well, I was on the train that Notts County + B'ham City fans were on after the match, that wasn't a pleasent experience. The train was delayed becuase someone pushed a Poilceman, nd then they're wondering why it's getting later when they're egging him on!!!

You can't report it if you haven't got any evidence. Them saying they were on said train will be blown away as teenage brovado.

It is up to the Police to determine whether potential evidence is useful. Therefore, you should report. It is possible to retain your anonimity, if you are worried. There is also Crimestoppers, as an alternative to going to the Police direct. Whilst I shouldn't think your information will be sufficient to use in court, it is probable that the police have footage of the individuals concerned on camera, so being led to the individual would enable them to cross referance there face with the footage.

Anyway, report it but make sure the police know it needs to be delt with sensitively. If the person asks if you told on them, deny it, and they won't know it's you (unless they know you visit this website or that you are AKA Sulzer 25 in which case a search engine could land you in hot water with the perpetrators - if that is the case let a staff member know and the topic can be deleted).

If you put somebody forward who you have reason to believe was a witness to a crime, you can inform the police of this. They will then decide whether or not it's worth knocking on their door.

Of course, if they knock and then they plead innocent, they can't do anything further.

Football fans eh, what a pain they can be. I love football, God's own sport in my opinion, but I wish some fans could be a little more mature and behaved.

Of course, with is being Derby v Forest, it was always going to be worse than normal. And there is a replay to look forward to soon, as the final result was a draw.

To be honest though If you do grass and they find out it is you well you need to take that into account.
Obviously everyone on here will say yeah go report it but we don't have to think of the consequences so yeah just think it over first.

Been to a fair few rugby games before now (some league, some international, one even on international soil!) and the fans are vastly more civil. Even after gracious amounts of alcohol is in their systems...The worst I've seen with rugby supporters is passionate banter. This being before, during and after the game. And the banter is family-friendly in most cases too.

Personally, I'd lock up everyone who supports football or ban them from every single pub/off-license/supermarket/wherever else sells alcohol. It is in my humble opinion that clubs do not do enough to sort out their vicious fans. Although if being a fan of XYFC means you get liquored up considerably before the game, more so during the game and massively after it then look for anyone who dares even look at you and viciously attack them, then I'd rather take severe action with them all. To the extent of banning football in pubs or even altogether. Mind, depending on how deliciously evil I was feeling at the time, I'd even consider going as far as sending them to Iraq...
