I'm travelling to Redhill on October 3rd using Southern's online off 10% offer on a Smart CDR which is clearly an incentive to get more users with The Key. I've also ordered a Key from Southern which should arrive in five working days.

I'm assuming that as Forest Hill still hasn't got Key ticketing facilities for now (being a LOROL station), I'll have to buy tickets online and touch in at the gateline for most travel on the network outside London?

To add to my previous enquiry.

Southern have told me no, yet Southern (and Thameslink/Great Northern)'s WebTIS are selling The Key tickets from Forest Hill.

According to this page:
https://www.southernrailway.com/smart-card/
The Key is valid at Forest Hill. However, "Tickets cannot be purchased on the key smartcard for journeys which originate in London. For example, you cannot buy a ticket from London Victoria to Eastbourne. This will be introduced later in the year."

There's no date on the page so it's not clear this information is still correct.

What I don't know is whether the gateline at Forest Hill is capable of transferring the ticket onto the card. If not, then I think it would not be valid as you would not have a ticket. If it does, then I can't see why it wouldn't be valid.

Personally I'd expect better than a 10% discount for beta-testing their new systems.

The tickets are available. However the problem is that they can only be picked up from gatelines outside London (and Queen's Road Peckham according to the drop down menu)
