hey guys

Just wanted to see how many of you were smokers and how many have gone over to the E-cig?

I've been on the E-cig for about 12 months now what the general policy of smoking these in the industry are staff allowed to use them and if so where?

I have a feeling that these are not allowed either but wanted to ask :)

Well I know they don't allow it in airports and on planes and although I use one I certainly wouldn't risk a job over it that for sure

Just wondered how many used the e cig and whether it's as frowned upon as smoking

They urge you to give up, so u move onto something far far better and then they ban those as well lol

TOC policy I know of is e-cigs are the same as cigarettes. Therefore all rules related to smoking apply.

I am an e-cig user, and at my work they are quite funny about it. Can't use it on the trains or technically in railway property but really depends who you are around. If people get a bit touchy about it I just go outside with the smokers and use it. Not ideal but as you say, its better then lighting up. As for using it whilst driving a train, nobody is really going to find out if you do ^_^

Fair enough with banning proper smoking in stations as they are sometimes confined public places but when it comes down to displaying messages on the electronic signs at some of the smaller open air platform stations that e cigs are banned something has gone seriously over the top. Personally I fail to see the harm in lighting up a real cig on open air platforms as long as your not doing it in other peoples face , but there is absolutely no reason to ban ecigs from stations at all , let alone open air platforms. All the emit is scented water vapour which cannot even be smelt if stood more than a meter away.

I think I am probably the most intolerant person to cigarette smoke that I know and even I don't have an issue with people using e-cigs in my company, so work places and public venues who ban them are just going OTT to be seen to be politically correct.
I think the goverment's cheif medical adviser should step in and clarify any potential health issues associated with passive E-smoking

Probably as dangerous as a mobile phone or crossing the road when drunk. Although only time will tell if any lasting effects.
