This is something I've been trying to highlight for ages, He is paid far more than most Bankers .....for failure.

Look at RAFA B picked up millions from Liverpool spent six months at Inter and picked up more millions when sacked....yet remains a folk hero not a "Fat Cat"

Benitez was not a failure.

He took Liverpool to two Champions League finals, and an FA Cup - and they won two out of those three.

If that is the work of a failed football manager, then most of the current ones have failed apart from Ferguson and Mourinho.

Sorry, I'm going back a few pages....

....Under the method you suggest a game would go on for hours as everyone would challenge every decision that is borderline.

I'm not talking about every time there is a foul or what have you, but genuine times where the officials are not sure what the right decision is, you know, goals that aren't (or are), maybe for something happening behind the ref's back, that sort of thing.

Benitez was not a failure.

Benitez was also able to pull of a lot of good results in Europe against much superior teams. We are heading for a European competition. Benitez plus Europe equals success. Excellent idea.

No benitez wasn't a great success overall, although in Europe he was very successful. Although saying that he probably got the best out of Liverpool managers of recent times.

And now laughing on the other side of his face now Petrov is pretty much the only experienced midfielder we have at villa park now. Young can't get a game at Man Ure despite their injury worries. Only Barry and Milner are having some form of success.

Moral of the story? Don't pretend you're leaving for football when it's obviously money.
Downing was a good player at the villa since he had more of a starring role and could play alongside young. Now he's a small fish in a big pond

He's played 26 games for Liverpool, out of 24 League games, 2 FA Cup games and 5 Carling Cup games. Hardly a small fish.

Man Utd v Liverpool then? One of those type of games where it needs an early goal, or they tend (going on previous games in recent years) to be settled by one goal, leading to the goalscorers 'shutting up shop' and holding out, rarely overly entertaining, Liverpool's problem for many years now has been that they raise their game against the 'big boys' and struggle against the so called lesser sides. United, on the other hand have that 'winning' mentality and still continue to 'do it' year in year out.
I see this one ending in a 1-1 draw this time round...

Who is the referee today....I should imagine a strong one was required with the recent happenings. I see that Rooney scored twice just after half-time, Suarez makes his point by not shaking hands but by scoring near the end but it still finished 2-1 in favour of the home team, who went top with this result.

I know you are a Villa fan but I have to say you are wrong on all three points !!

Ref had a decent game today IMHO definitely not even a foul by Ferdinand on Suarez let alone a red card
and Suarez admitted using an offensive word so not hearsay

Being last man isn't necessarily a sending off, the rule is denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. Nothing about being last man in the rules.
