Most teams who lost a first leg final away from home 2-1 would feel that they could turns matters around in the second match on their own ground, but Oldham Athletic are not a normal team in that respect and play away matches with far more confidence than they do at home. Chesterfield must think that Wembley is beckoning them already now, with the second leg to be played at Boundary Park.

Northwich Victoria have been given until this evening to totally vacate their ground, which has been sold by the administrators to an adjoining industrial company. They had requested that they be allowed to stay for a short time, but no response was forthcoming. They are urgently meeting two clubs in the hope of concluding time-share arrangements to the end of the current season.

Non-league clubs are not having much in the way of good luck of late.

However, this is most certainly accurate. It may be a lousy source, but here is what the Daily Fail have to say on the matter.

You'd think they'd have noticed before 2009 that eviction was on the horizon...

Although apparently another descendant was "in a womb" when said bequest was made, so the club, a local barrister and the Mayor are claiming they have longer because this other guy only died last year!

I've never really managed to get my head around same town rivalry. I know they both had old grounds in Northwich so they may have come from the opposite ends of town but the fact that they both chose to move to an industrial wasteland on the outskirts and that you could probably boot a ball from one ground to the other now says a lot to me.

What other options do they really have?

I can't say this for certain, but looking at the data I am under the impression that Southend have been trated very unfairly in their game today.

See here for details of what I mean. Also, how the Hell did it reach almost 10 minutes of stoppage time? At least Crawley and Cheltenham managed only one point between them though.

Elsewhere, Everton failed again (but not as baadly as the Bolton game :?), and Fulham put in quite the show! Also nice to see Cardiff picking up a (come-from-behind) win just days before the semi-final

Politicians have urged the media not to call Newcastle United's stadium the Sports Direct Arena.

Club owner Mike Ashley was told he would receive no support from Newcastle City Council for his decision to rename St James' Park.

The council has written to news organisations asking for their support after Labour and Liberal Democrat councillors united to pass a motion opposing the decision after the name change was announced in November.

They called on the sportswear tycoon to reconsider, and refused to change street signs in the city from St James' Park to Sports Direct Arena.

The motion, passed at a meeting of the full council, also committed city officers to write to media organisations asking for their support.

The letter said: "The motion requests that the city council write to the media and asks that they continue to use the name of St James' Park in all reporting and refuse to use the name Sports Direct Arena. We respectfully request that you take this approach.

"For its part, the city council has taken the decision not to change any wayfinding signs which bear the name St James' Park, and calls on the club to reconsider their decision.

"We would ask that you acknowledge the strength of opposition among Newcastle fans against changing the name of the stadium and continue to call it St James' Park in all reporting."

Newcastle United refused to comment.

St James' Park has been the home of Newcastle since 1892. The stadium will be called the Sports Direct Arena until a new global sponsor can be found, in a move club bosses say will bring money to the club. Derek Llambias, the club's managing director, said it could generate up to £10 million a year.

Of course, given the source of this article, the contents of it [i.e. the details of the letter] are probably about two months old, but anyway...

Hyde FC again dropped two points at home for the second consecutive match with a 0-0 draw against Gloucester, yet amazingly still remain 12 points clear of second-placed Stalybridge Celtic, who are also finding "three-point" win results difficult to come by, as even though they were leading 4-1 at half-time away to Hinckley United.....the final score was 5-5!!

Wheres XC Driver I want him to come and eat humble pie with regard to McLeish who appears to have made an inspired loan signing in Robbie Keane.
The fact he used to play for Wolves is a double whammy for him probably.

At least your not like Hearts one week hammering St Mirren and the next week losing to Inverness - still third though !!!

I can't imagine it being a particularly major club, but I too wish him well. He was an excellent servant at Goodison as well as our friends (allies almost?) north of the border
