Having said that Carroll would probably fit into mcleish's game plan better than Bent.
Bent relies on service into the box whereas Carroll is more of a lump it up in the air and see what happens type of player. At the moment most of our attacks (the few we actually have) are lump it into the box efforts. So maybe Carroll would actually work here.
Bent + 10 Million and I would take it. Straight swop. Nah

It does go to show what a monumental cock up Dalglesh made spending 35M on Carroll in the first place though

In all seriousness, I don't really understand where Randy expected McLeish to take the Villa. You're mid-table at the moment, it's not as if you are in the bottom three or losing games massively. He's at most a mid-table manager, if Randy expected anything else he should have set his sights on a better man for the job tbh. I've said the same to my Villa mates and they agree (with plenty of profanity added )

I do think Randy did us a favour though, things for us do seem better with Hughton in charge. We stand a slim chance of being in the promotion race come the end of the season, I couldn't see that with McLeish in charge

Another week...another game. Next week, Sheffield Wednesday are at home to Hartlepool United, with an opportunity to reproduce their normal good home form. Incidentally, next week sees Charlton at home to Sheffield United, which has the makings of quite an interesting match.

With regards to Oldham Athletic, they now occupy the 16th position (only because their away form has brought in so many points) and next week they are home to Exeter City (18th position), which fills me with total despond.
