i get pretty sick sometimes of newcastle being poor coverage by the media. especially some newspapers, which constantly explain how lucky we were in every aspect of a match and how actually the other team should have won. maybe this was shown on saturday by hatem ben arfa. he went past half the blackburn team to score a simply stunning goal. now imagine, as the local paper pointed out, if lionel messi had scored the same goal. what difference would there have been in the amount of attention?

They set up their "studio" in the corners away from the action, so Brown must've done it deliberately.

Whilst it may have been hilarious that it hit Keown or may have been aimed for Robbie Savage it could've also easily hit the woman presenter. Seeing her hurt, humiliated and crying on live TV would've been "hilarious" I'm sure.

Brown should be fined heavily and banned.

Well, on account that Messi is probably the greatest footballer of all time (yes, ahead of Pele, Best, Maradona etc, IMO), quite a lot. Same could be said for any other team or player on the planet.

Some can't resist a dig at a Leeds fan, very boring. Why should Brown be banned? It's a pretty well known fact that football teams warm up before the game so what ESPN were thinking by setting up where they did is beyond me. It's somebody getting hit by a football mate, not a nuclear warhead and if you are worried about football commentators and pundits being humiliated well they manage that with their comments.

A pathetic and cheap dig at a Leeds fan. We really are the anti-christ aren't, lighten up mate.

I wish I could say that Oldham Athletic could help you in this weekend's fixtures, as we are away to Huddersfield Town, who are two points behind you in 3rd place, but considering that Huddersfield Town won 6-0 away at Wycombe last Friday, with Rhodes scoring FIVE, even my optimistic feelings have received something of a reality check.

ANy help would be appreiated. There 2 points behind but we got a game inhand so hopefully it will be back to 5 points soon.

Fleetwood won 4-1 at home to Barrow in the Conference tonight, so the Blackpool result did not affect them too much.

Agree completely with you on this. This week saw him win the Ballon d'Or for the third year in a row.

Ipswich manager Paul Jewell criticised female assistant referee Amy Fearn after the 2-1 defeat at Birmingham.

Jewell was furious Ipswich were not awarded a penalty for Steven Caldwell's challenge on Lee Martin.

Responding to the comment "I think everyone, to a man, thought it was a penalty", Jewell replied: "To every man, but not a woman.

"Although the referee didn't have a good view, the lineswoman, or whatever she's called, had a great view."

Jewell has faced mounting speculation over his future and defeat at St Andrew's was Ipswich's 10th in 13 matches.

He added: "It's a stonewall penalty and it's a sending-off but he [referee Robert Lewis] didn't give it. You better ask him why he didn't give it, or her why she [Fearn] didn't give it."

Fearn, who was born Amy Rayner, was the subject of criticism from Luton manager Mike Newell in 2006 which saw him fined £6,500 by the Football Association.

As I read it, his comments were not particularly sexist, but a "clever" rejoinder to the journalist "Feed" of "everyone, to a man, thought...". But doubtless he will get fined and held up as an example of all that is wrong in football.

i watched the man city - liverpool game and was surprised how lenient the referee was. savic surely deserved to go off for that horrific challenge that gave liverpool the penalty? and glen johnson diving in with two feet? the ref may have missed that, but i was still surprised he didn't book anyone till a late dust-up between carragher and nasri. there had been plenty of clumsy challenges...
