With regard to the matter of the comments made by Sepp Blatter on racism this week, I notice that FIFpro, the World Players Union, have been the first global football body to express outrage at the naivety of his comments.

Any forum members..... any comments to make with your views on the remarks made by Sepp Blatter.

He has to go. He's already ballsed it up with awarding the World Cup to Qatar, FIFA are now being lobbied over labour conditions out there (not to mention that you have to wonder whether giving it to a country which sees temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius in summer was advisable), now he goes and does that. Resign now before he loses even more credibility is my suggestion.

Whilst we are on the subject of racism, I did see a report stating that the police were considering whether to take action against John Terry over the recent incident where Anton Ferdinand was concerned.

Another point to consider is although Manchester City have declared losses of £194.9 million, the largest ever loss by an English football club, is that because these financial results are said to fall outside of the "accounting window", the club will not contravene the stipulations of the UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations. Can someone explain why a figure of this magnitude can not be deemed as contravening the regulations.

Went to a fantastic game last night
Old Woodstock Town v Witney Town in the FA Vase 2nd Round
Witney from one division higher in the Hellenic League were pretty comfortable at 3-1 up with 20 mins to go. But then the beauty of football, and in particular cup football, showed itself as Woodstock woke up and grabbed one back. Then with 4 mins to go equalised and finally in stoppage time got an unlikely winner. Fabulous entertainment

That's why, because it falls outside the accounting window. I have no faith in these Financial Fair Play regulations since the money that rich owners would put in directly before will simply become a sponsorship afterwards from a front company. Does anyone really think the shirt/stadium deal is worth anywhere near as much as they got?

With regards to Man City being 'allowed' to 'cook' the books along with countless other PL sides, it just shows how 'spineless' the relevant authorities are, absolute joke

Well Robin Van Persie has joined a very elite group of players who have scored 30+ goals in a calender year. Scoring another 2 today as Arsenal came back from being 1 down to win 1-2. Van Persie (32) joins Alan Shearer (38) and Thierry Henry (36) in that group. Congratulations RVP.

For Arsenal they have got that mauling at Old Trafford and the shocking defeat to Blackburn out of their system, and whilst still shaky in defence (note Mertasacker today) they have gone on a run of 6 premier league wins in 7 games. Of course Thomas Vermalen coming back into defence after nearly 18 months out due to injury has also helped.

For Arsenal fans like myself the worry with this is can Vermalen and Van Persie remain injury free. We still have Gibbs and Wilshere out until at least January, but all in all the boys have done well in recent games. It is onwards and upwards.


You watch now i have done this we will go on a run of bad results.

West Ham stole all three points away to Coventry. Outplayed for the whole first half and 1-0 down at the break, the introduction of Carlton Cole at half-time again turned things the Hammers' way, and they equalised, then got the winner (very flukily) in quick succession.
To be honest, they were really only in charge for about twenty minutes but it was long enough to get the two goals.

Good to see the FA Vase getting a mention on here. Up here in "Northernland", we have Glossop North End, a team that was a former member of the Football League, founded in 1886 and celebrating 125 years of existence. They too played in the 2nd Round Proper, away to a very good side at Billingham and came away victorious with a 4-2 win.

Shocking news from Germany this weekend where the Bundeliga game between 1. FC Koln and 1. FSV Mainz 05 had to be postponed after the Referee Babak Rafati was found in his hotel room by his two assistants having attempted to commit suicide.
This comes 2 years after Hannover 96 keeper Robert Enke committed suicide.

By a strange quirk of fate I was actually at the last game Enke played for Hannover 96 at, yep you guessed it, Koln.

The La Liga match between Granada and Mallorca was abandoned after 63 minutes with Granada leading 2-1, after a lineman was struck with what seemed to be an umbrella and was helped off, with blood pouring from his head, by the match officials. A spectator was apprehended by stadium officials.

It will be interesting to see what will be the outcome of this incident.

Our third win in a week and our last two, yesterday and at Gainsborough on Tuesday (4-1) have ended unbeaten home records. Good times in the Blue Square North!

You certainly have had two very good results this week, but my favourite non-league side, Hyde FC, are still top of this league with an expected hard home match against a spirited Colwyn Bay side. The score went 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2 until Hyde scored the final goal in an entertaining 3-2 win, to consolidate their recent form. Their lead at the top of the league was helped by Stalybridge Celtic only drawing 1-1 at Guisley, where no team looks forward to visiting.

Wigan chairman David Whelan may hand control to grandson

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has admitted he is considering giving control of the club to his 21-year-old grandson David.

The 74-year-old bought the Latics 16 years and has overseen their rise from the bottom division of the Football League to the Premier League.

But Whelan has revealed he may step down after six years in the top flight.

"The time comes for everyone when you need to retire or take a step back because you're simply not what you used to be," he told FC Business magazine.

"What I would like to do is create a dynasty here at Wigan Athletic. My grandson is a bright boy, and is massively keen on football and Wigan Athletic. I'm inclined to let him have a go and I hope that happens."

The mighty Leeds continue to march on, up to 5th now despite a pretty rubbish performance at Burnley. Two goals from Robert Snodgrass cancelled out a goal by a man that scored for Burnley. They were also lucky not to be down to 10 men, Trippier or something should have been off.

The atmosphere was electric, the Leeds fans were immense at usual. Bit of incident when we made it 1-1, a group of about 20-30 Burnley lads started Istanbul chants and doing stabbing gestures, one of them produced a Turkey flag, they could only be heard by Leeds fans at the front of the away stand. However, they were engulfed by other Burnley fans, Police and stewards who succeeded in removing both of them. It was good to see that really, decent fans standing up against their own idiots and saying enough is enough.

On the Man City game, I didn’t see a problem with either of their penalties, they were both clear. Newcastle had their chances but they didn’t take them, City were pretty clinical and deserved to win. I can’t see anyone getting near them this season.

The season at Tottenham Hotspur seemed very bad when it started, with their first match at home against Everton being cancelled due to the area around the ground being deemed a "crime scene" by the police after the riots, then 3-1 and 5-0 defeats to the two Manchester clubs, but their league form seemed to pick up and their 2-0 home win over Aston Villa last night has seem them rise to third place in the Premier League, with a game in hand over the club immediately above them.

Whilst Spurs are a good team, Redknapp saying he thinks they can win the League is a little far fetched. Not this season they can't.

Think they need to get real and notice they were playing an awful Villa side which included Heskey & Hutton working the wings Our decline is getting really hard to take now!

God it must be terrible having to support a Premiersh*t club - oh no we only finished 8th. that is terrible. Johnson Out, Sack the board!

my club is teetering on the brink of going out of existence, the chairman has had a thrombo and told the players he is playing them half their wages(repayable on promotion!) and if they don’t like it they can do one, we are bumbling along in mid table in the BSP, we got knocked out of the FA Cup, 3-0 in an away replay by Hinckley (WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) we have no manager, the caretaker manager is the only coach in the club, and runs the youth team, all out better players are leaving or have left, we play in a mega stadium with 1500 people in it and we are slowly sinking into the abyss. HOWEVER we won 3-1 at Ebbsfleet on Saturday with a team of kids and left over’s and put on the best display of the season!

Now I wonder who has it harder? You or me? I have seen my side get promoted 3 times in my lifetime (twice from the 4th division and once from the Vauxhall Conference) We have lost in two playoff finals we should have won in 1996 & 2000 and we have won 1 cup at. We have been in administration 3 times, always on the brink of going bust or going down, I have got up at stupid o’clock in the morning and travelled on a bus for 47 hours (it felt like) to Torquay or Plymouth, stood in the rain and got beat. Then travelled the 47 hours home returning at stupid o’clock in the morning. I have stood in shin deep snow at Carlisle and watched us loose, badly, I have stood in the pouring rain at Scarborough and watched us loose, badly, I have gone to Brighton, Gillingham, Bournemouth, Swansea, Cardiff, Exeter and watched us loose badly ( see a pattern here? - but we did, somehow win 4-1 once at St James park don’t know how) anyone want to swap 17th place in the PL? Anyone? Anyone want to swap their nice, dry, seat in the main stand for a open wind swept terrace in some northern sh*t hole? No, didn’t think so - I wish I had it as hard as some of you :roll::roll: FFS

A question for the Villa fans who have just posted - why are you so keen to have McLeish out? 8th place at the moment, surely better than relegation fodder and a disunited squad as was the case under Houllier?
What are the expectations at Villa, given that your owner has admitted there's no longer as much money to spend, and you had to sell your best players in the summer (Young, Downing)?

Having said all that, I'm probably going to be biased as he did an absolutely wonderful job at the Gers!
