I love 3rd round draw day too. 64 teams ranging from the two Manchester clubs to, potentially, the Conference South or lower still...

Remember a few years ago, when Havant took the lead twice at Anfield? Absolutely brilliant And, later that weekend, as Jonathan Pearce said in pre-match commentary, that epitomised the romance of the Cup - Man U vs Spurs [on which he was commentating] eitomised the glamour of it. What other competition across the globe does that, year in, year out...?

After England's systematic destruction of Spain it will soon be back to reality this weekend when the mighty Leeds United travel to Burnley. Just days after the death of Jimmy Adamson, i'm sure he'll given a fitting tribute from both clubs.

Last years at Burnley we was 2-0 down before coming back to win 3-2. Strange away stand, wooden seats in section not that we'll need them. Live on the BBC as well but i've already booked my train

I haven't watched any of the first rounds but i'd be hoping for a Premier League team away or any of the following league grounds I haven't been too...

Have to agree with you. Love watching the draw but dread seeing Villa come out first as I always want an Away tie - past couple of seasons we have had Sheffield United, Reading and my favourite of all, Crystal Palace. Love going places that you don't tend to go in a season.

I see that the draw for the FA Cup 2nd round proper was made today. Fleetwood Town's reward for beating Wycombe Wanderers is a home tie against Yeovil Town.

To review my friendly rivalry with jimmyowl1992, where both our teams were successful in the first round, the draw has at present paired our teams with teams involved with replays:-

Preston North End or Southend United v Oldham Athletic

Sheffield Wednesday v Maidenhead United or Aldershot Town

All matches to be played 3 and 4 December 2011.

Don't jump in that quickly As hard as it is to believe this, I would suggest my home team have every chance of reaching the Third Round (and probably drawing someone like Barnsley ).

I was referring to oldham playing sheffield wednesday in league 1 in early december :P no offence meant to southend what so ever!

I am looking forward to this match, as our form against the better teams in League 1 seems better than against those who are in the "bottom 4"..

On another note, I see that Michael Owen is beginning to emulate Owen Hargreaves in terms of being "injury-free", as the injury that made him come off after only 10 minutes in the Champions League game, has ruled him out of playing for the next six weeks.

Sounds like Southend in the Championship five years ago! Unbeaten against West Brom; failed to beat most at the bottom

After the League Cup game in August (which I saw in person)? Never have I seen such unprofessional play in my life! To Hell with Orient; here is hoping they go down and Southend go up. And it stays that way.

That's what I'd expect someone that supports Southend to say. People can at time overlook the rivalries in the lower leagues but they can be just as strong as some of the premiership rivalries. From what I understand though you see Colchester as your main rivals even though Southend are Orient's main rival.

It's a bit of a funny one to be honest with you. There is a one-way street with the local rivalries.

Orient do not like Southend at all. Southend do not exactly like Orient either, but the true enemy is Colchester. And Colchester aren't exactly friendly with Southend, but due to the events of 1990 (when Col U went out of the League), their main rival is Wycombe.

I guess in saying "To Hell with Orient" I've committed to Southend as my true second team then, and none of this "I don't know who I like most besides Everton" then

Out of curiosity, is there any one club you particularly support, and if yes would you care to share?

To complicate things further there is now a league club geographically between Orient and Southend at Dagenham and Redbridge. Orient got knocked out of the league cup by them this year on penalties. It was quite a long penalty shootout with all eleven players from both sides scoring their first penalties and having to go through part of the team again.

Dag have a pretty strong record against all the local teams to be fair. Southend played them a few years ago in the FLT, with a one-sided game (in Southend's favour), and what happened? Dag won on penalties

The odd thing with Southend though is that the nearest League opponents are Gillingham, but given the relative distances involved without swimming the rivalry is pretty minor. Their traditional foes are I believe Brighton - which wouldn't have gone down too well around 2000. EDIT: Actually, having read up on it, the Gills aren't that bothered about them. It's the opposite direction where there are issues. Instead, and perhaps not surprisingly, they hate Millwall.

Oh, yes. As things stand, a certain bunch of CHEATS by the name of West Sham United. I still haven't forgiven them for that whole Tevez affair, and probably never will; having said that, with Zola around, I felt a little less strongly about it - until he was shown the door anyway. It is at least fairly well known on here that they would come dead last if I was to list every club in existence and how I feel about that them.

And yes, the "S" in "Sham" was intentional.

And with a certain someone in Hornchurch not around any more, I can criticise them all I like!

My non-league side, Hyde FC, fought a very dour match away to Hinckley to come away with a 0-0 scoreline, to lead the Blue Square Bet League North by three points, but this has played into the hands of their local rivals, Stalybridge Celtic, who now have two games in hand of them. It looks like a "two-horse race", as there is now an eleven point gap between second and third (Gainsborough Trinity) in the league.

Seriously speaking, the last 12 months have been a disgrace for the man. First there was the World Cup farce, with various elite members of FIFA accepting bribery, then the whole issue about Qatar maybe not being ready, his consistent wars of words with UEFA and especially the FA, not to mention that to which you have alluded to above. He should tender his resignation at 0900 CET in my opinion.
