We did well to neutralise stoke's style. however, to beat stoke, sometimes one must play like stoke....which was where ryan taylor came in didn't know he took long throws, but i bet they weren't expecting it!

Good on Billy Sharp for being a real man, and more importantly, Dad, and going out and doing his job for Doncaster Rovers last night after losing his baby son. I agree with everything said there, he should be very proud of himself. He did his entire family, his team mates, him self and more importantly his son proud.

I dont think names should be mentioned simply because unfoturnately the list is too long. I hope they are watching too!

having watched the arsenal 5 - 3 chelsea game highlights, all i can say is, the art of defending is dead. how can two arsenal strikers get unmarked into the chelsea box to beat petr cech? and walcott's fall.....4 defenders stood and watched! modern teams know how to attack....but not defend

Nobody cares about defending, it's only exciting to a few people and strikers do down in the box like Germans dying in a bad war film and get a lot ill-gotten penalties to the point where it's 50/50 whether a fair tackle is a foul. The ball introduced at the World Cup was designed to make it easier to score and goalkeeper complaints were dismissed.

Well, i'm there every week home and away but last night was not one of the better occasions at Elland Road.

That said, hardly anyone left early, we stuck with our team right until the end unlike the Man Utd fans against Man City.

Still, no point being depressed about the result. As the song goes "we're Leeds United, we don't give a f**k"

That was a disgrace the other week, shows how people are happy to support a winning team but when the boot is on the other foot they don't want to know. They should've been locked in and forced to watch.

Well I got my football fix on Tuesday in the shape of West Mildands Police v Racing Club Warwick in the Midland Combination League Cup. And I doubt I will see a game like it for quite awhile. Warwick were leading 2-1 but The Police grabbed an equaliser in the 82nd min. Two minutes to go I was about to text the other half to say due to Extra time I would be home a bit late when Warwick snatched a 3-2 lead. Whoop Whoop thinks I no extra time. Then in the space of 3 mins 3 more goals were scored making the final score 6-2 to Warwick. Crazy stuff. All for the bargain price of £1 with a free programme and a free sweet....whats not to like !!

Manchester City played some good passing football in their away Champions League game and deserved to beat Villareal, a Spanish team who had never lost at home to an English team before, by 3-0, showing that they are coming to terms with European football, yet the group leaders, Bayern Munich saw a 3-0 lead cut back to 3-2 by Napoli before the end.

Here's a question for you all: is Spain in danger of turning into Scotland with regard to the two-horse race set-up? Last year, third place Valencia were closer to relegation than catching second place Real Madrid...

Quite a good feature on it in this month's FFT.

I can see this happening more and more all over Europe as the teams that consistently qualify for the Chumpions League get richer and richer. Added to that the Fair Play Rules (yeah right) which effectively reduce the chances of any small club ever gatecrashing the big boys party.
Football at the very top level in Europe will soon become boring as only a tiny handful of clubs have the financial muscle to compete

Football at the very top level already is extremely tedious. I follow the Villa all across the country and we missed our chance to become big. Times like this I'd just prefer us to get relegated for some competition (as much as I hate saying it...!)

Certainly is. Just like English Football is becoming even more of a top 4 and bottom 16. Fed up of it. Would rather these teams that just own the leagues for now went and played in a Super League, Get Celtic and Rangers into English leagues and throw a spending cap in there for good measure. I never got to see Football how it was supposed to be (bar the mid 90s - even then it was developing). I would love it to belong to the fans again, and even though attendances may dip, this may be the only way out now. Worrying.

Stoke City are finding the Europa League to their liking and had a 2-1 home win over Maccabi Tel Aviv, which leaves them top of Group E with 10 points from 4 games played.

Aye, Stoke have got 7 wins out of their 8 Europa League games so far. This has left them joint 5th favourites at some Bookies to win the competition at 16/1. I may well have a few quid on that. Birmingham also got a decent result last night coming back from 2 down to grab a draw. Looking at the group table though, this somehow leaves Brugges top of the group, despite Birmingham being ahead of them before the game. Braga as it stands are dropping out, despite their superior goal difference. Absolutely ridiculous ruling from UEFA means that out of the 3 teams on 7 points, there is a head to head between them. Brugges and Birmingham both have 4 points out of the fixtures and Braga have 3, which is why it's left in its current state. Brugges therefore sit ahead of Birmingham on Goal Difference.

Confused? Still 2 game weeks left to play!

For todays game I picked the Hellenic Premier League. Not one of my favourites usually. The standard of both play and grounds never seems to be up with other step 5 leagues.
I chose Ardley United v Shrivenham 3rd v 11th at start of play. Unfortunately my worse fears were confirmed with a totally one sided game that ended up 6-0 to the home team.
Might give the Hellenic a miss for awhile. At least it did good for my goals per game average !!
Thats 20 games this season now. 19 of which at grounds I hadn't been to before. Now up to 361 grounds visited

My non-league side, Hyde FC returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win over Histon and are now second in their league, only one point behind Stalybridge Celtic, who were held 3-3 away in their local Tameside derby match with Droylsden.

My main club, Oldham Athletic still refuse to believe consistency is possible in League 1, as after two successive 3-3 away draws, they contrived to lose 0-2 at home in their local derby match with Bury. I do not look forward to the result of their coming FA Cup home game with Burton Albion at all..:roll:

My local side stocksbridge steelers lost again to continue their woeful season. At least they are consistent.

The mighty owls drew 0-0 at home to brentford. All good things must come to an end unfortunately.... but ah well got the mathc on TV in HD to look forward to next weekend!

Had a trip to Leicester yesterday with the mighty Leeds

Awful game but got the result we needed, a superb goal from Adam Clayton. That's my 5th visit to the Walkers/King Power/Crisp Bowl stadium and the first time i've seen Leeds win, totally delighted. For once our central defence looked ok. Andy O'Brien turned in by far his best Leeds performance....................and then got injured. It's a weekend off now for the internationals.
