Back to the subject of the lower divisions, Crawley Town, the well-funded West Susex club who came into the league this season and made an excellant start, were brought down to earth with a very big bump this weekend, losing 6 - 0 to Morecambe. Nothing like a reality check to put things into perspective.

Did Boston do that? I just thought they ended up in general deep financial mess. They are in the BSN now, alongside Hyde Untied and others.

Hes certainly been about a bit - I wonder if any other goalkeepers have played fro more Premiership Clubs ? - Liverpool and Fulham as well.

He's got to getting on for 40 - has done well to join Spurs on 2 year contract.

I bet hes on at least 40 Grand per week = over TWO MILLION POUNDS per year !!!

Talk about Fat Cat Bankers.....it's amazing how footballers seem to slip under the radar, even though a lot of them are being paid mega amounts of wedge for what amounts to failure when they don't win anything.

Were obviously not all in this together when it comes to them either

Had a laugh this morning when I found out what Celtic fans are expecting to do at Ibrox on Sunday.

With Rangers having several tax cases on the go for a potential total of around £55m and having money from their bank account suspended by the HMRC last week Celtic fans are going to wear masks of Hector the tax inspector.

I am pleased that Tom Cleverley has only sustained ligament damage, rather than the expected broken foot bones, at such an early part of the season. He has quickly reacted to a place in the team at Premiership level and the experiance he collected whilst being on loan in a first-team situation has stood him in good stead. Four weeks out of action is somewhat less than the original time period of recuperation envisaged.

From an England point of view, both he and Jack Wilshiere are future England midfield prospects. It is a pity that neither of them will now have their chance in the fothcoming friendly matches, as a result of injuries sustained.

I was only thinking in terms of the England team in the same way that I mentioned Jack Wilshiere. I claim no allegiance to either of the two Manchester teams, as you well know. Your assignment takes you into the area of Oldham Athletic, who continue to under-perform. Our new centre-forward Shefki Kuqi (now with his seventh or eighth league club) has scored in his last two appearances. He has played in the past for other teams supported by other forum members.

My favourite non-league team, Hyde FC, under their new manager Gary Lowe, have won all eight league games that they have played this season in the Blue Square Bet North league, which they top, with their great local rivals Stalybridge Celtic in second place (shades of the two Manchester clubs in the Premiership) They have reverted back to their original name. They do hold a very unfortunate record for the heaviest defeat in English football, as in the F A Cup in 1887, they were defeated by Preston North End by 26 - 0 :roll:

Freidel is one of my inspirations in sport. He was magical for Blackburn, a true gent, and a n excellent keeper. he is also the fourth best penalty-stopper in the world. he was what made me interested in goalkeeping, I can't think of a better bloke in the game. He deserves every last penny of his wage.

News from the UEFA meeting this morning

UEFA heard the appeal by FC Sion against their European suspension that was recently imposed. UEFA had totally rejected all parts of the appeal. This now leaves Celtic will be free to face Atletico Madrid this Thursday.

It is a pity that UEFA did not have any powers to make a ruling on the Serena Williams second infringement in her probationery period.

Generally during minute's silence on Remembrance weekend they make plane noises or some other form of interruption, it has definitely been reported in the past. They also never wore Poppies until Mowbray made them a couple of seasons back. Add that to the abuse of British soldiers touring the Emirates when they played there, and that tells you all you need to know about Celtic.

FC Sion are now threatening to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and also say that they may well travel to Spain to play the match in case they win their new appeal.
