I suppose if you're on the outside and didn't watch either game it's easy to call the Celtic capitulation as the worse of the two performances.

Truth is Celtic played well for the first 45 minutes in that second leg. Rangers were absolutely dire for the whole 120 minutes tonight. I'd say the Rangers performance was much worse.

I only saw the Celtic game and as you say the first half was ok. After that it developed in to a farce and even not being a Celtic fan I was cringing @ their play.

I was impressed last night the way Luton set up their defence but never bounced forward enough & very noticeable was the attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer another who slipped through the net at Chelsea in the youth side some ten plus years ago

A reasonable performance by us with a young team missing a few experienced players. Our normal game plan, of building from the back and getting goals from midfield, was probably never going to work against a Premier League side.

Yet another excellent attendance for this league of 3,322 saw Bury lead 4-0 at half-time and add three more in the second half.

Until Alonso got a few of the big guns on we looked ordinary but the most worrying thing albeit early days is the back four again & the changes game to game, Lacroix & Chavarria look the real deal but overall conceding too easily. Great to witness the comeback though, Welbeck a good back up buy.

A match between two teams who were promoted to the Premier Division at Gigg Lane in front of an attendance of 3.471, saw Bury score three times between the 25th and 36th minutes, then added a fourth goal in the 53rd minute.
This result further increases Bury's goal difference and keeps them in the top 6 of the division.

It was hit firmly and right in the bottom corner - it was an exceptionally good save.

Since the inception of the premier league 83% of penalties have been scored, so it’s hardly a rare event for a professional footballer not to score a penner

And £19m is a bargain in the current (utterly insane) market

I hope these stuttered run ups to penalty kicks get banned. They annoy me no end. Seems to be getting more and more prevelent lately.
As do knee slides after a goal, l'm still waiting for someone to come to an abrupt halt and go flat on their face!

It was an excellent save, 99/100 the keeper doesn’t get to that.

Sadly we can’t say the same thing about the refereeing, especially the VAR Stuart Attwell. I can’t believe he’s ended up as an elite referee after that ghost goal all those years ago at Watford. I wouldn’t trust him to get a McDonald’s order right.

Preston North end have sacked manager Paul Heckingbottom, who was appointed i August 2024, after six defeats in their first seven games of the season. PNE have also only won 5 matches out of 27 played since the start of January this year. His assistant, Stuart McCall, has also been fired and Jason Euell has been placed in charge as interim manager.
