From what I have watched over the last couple of years, I think it can also stem from a lack of confidence, regardless of the other two factors. Confidence is largely a subconcious thing that will affect that "extra yard of pace" or just how far a player might stretch to get a ball.
I don't think we KNOW that as he had so little time to influence things or bring in his own players but a valid point.
Standard new manager bounce from where I'm looking. Obviously I'm not in the dressing room but the players lost confidence in him rapidly.

The vast majority of new managers improve their team's haul of points immediately, and that disappears after 5-10 games. It is a known phenomenon backed up by data. Little to do with managerial skill and more to do with additional motivation, most likely.
And while maintaining and building morale is a continuous task, destroying it only takes one word / false step.
Such as uttering some drivel about "respecting the ball" for example .....
Does that include a certain show-pony known to both of us who once played in the PL and now in his 40s....and still scoring goals?

Amazing game.....and a bit of fairness has been restored to the score by Bayern scoring twice. It was a travesty when it was 5-2! PSG scored 4 goals against the run of play and the other was a ludicrous "euro-penalty"!! 3 minutes left.....time for another couple of goals!

Just been watching the MOTD2 highlights. Should Benjamin Sesko's 14th minute goal have been disallowed for handball?
Bury have just completed their second successive season as Champions of their respective leagues. They had a home match attendance of over 7,000 in their penultimate fixture.
Respect your opinion and the MOTD2 pundits also agreed with you. Having just had another look at the slow motion replay(s) widely available on social media, it doesn't look to me like a clear and obvious handball. Ball appears to come off Sesko's thigh then his chest and the direction of spin on the ball doesn't seem to change as one might expect if it had brushed his hand or fingers.
Haha definitely. But i think VAR would have pulled it back for a penalty + red card for DOGSO if it was disallowed anyway.
