that is more the problem. To many pea hearted, self obsessed, cowardly mercenaries
So if you had a manager at your work you didn't like, you'd still put in the same effort as for one you did like?

There are currently only 21 teams in NPL-Premier which means only three clubs will be relegated. This means a reprieve for one of the clubs finisihing 4th from bottom in NPL-1E, NPL-1W or NPL-1W. So which will it be?
Widnes withdrew before the season started so only 3 go down from NPL Premier. Any reprieve at step 4 is based on PPG across the step, and therefore Littlehampton Town of Isthmian 1 South Central are the lucky beneficiaries.

Indeed. Such a claim denies the idea that there can be good and bad managers, because of course a good manager gets the most from their team (by managing them!) while a bad one doesn't. Hopefully nobody with this mindset ever has a leadership role!

But will the National League agree to three up from National League North and National League South?
Why would they need to do that? All I'm suggesting is promoting three clubs from the NL to L2, it has no bearing on anything else.

Depends on whether what you’re being asked to put effort into will actually benefit your real customers or is just enabling him/her to tick boxes and polish his/her ego. Quite often in those cases it’s the latter at the expense of the former.

Yes - because I am a professional. I might not volunteer for extra but I would do my job and do it well.

I might also look for a new job but I wouldn't down tools like footballers often do because I take a pride in my work.

Of course there are good and bad managers the same as there a good and bad "professionals". Character is all important. The Chelsea players are lacking in it.

When I finally took retirement in 2010 as Senior Head of Projects at the consultancy, there were ten area managers under my jurisdiction. I was often referred to as one of the old-time managers, as I always saw people as people and not as numbers.
Someone who didn’t see personnel or staff or colleagues as “Human Resources” - ie commodities to be exploited and used.

The difference is a good manager will be able to turn a bad professional into a better one, because they are a leader.

Winchester City 3...Bristol Manor Farm 0

Winchester finish on 82 points, their highest ever total in the Southern League, and secure a 4th-placed finish.

2nd-placed Portishead, meanwhile, have failed ground grading and have appealed. The appeal is on Monday - so as it stands, the playoffs are Portishead against Shaftesbury and Malvern vs Winchester - but they could end up being Malvern vs Bishops Cleeve and Winchester vs Shaftesbury!
Update: Portishead have been demoted for failing ground grading, despite finishing 2nd with 95 points!

Don't believe you. So your level wouldn't drop by even 1%?

They have not "downed tools" - their levels have dropped a fraction because they are not happy with the manager, and in elite sport that can be the difference between winning and losing. It's a natural human reaction.

OK, so their ground isn't suitable for the league above so they don't participate in the playoffs, but to be demoted I assume they had a deadline to get it to a standard for the division they were in and missed it?

Yes, a deadline that was resulted from their promotion a year ago and that they had to meet to avoid being relegated.

Zero sympathy then.

Plus my mate who died last year was a big Manor Farm fan and I'm sure he'll be smiling about this wherever he is now. Hopefully with a pint of Batham's in his hand. He didn't like Portishead

Well, that was rather exhausting, but I'm glad you lot all enjoyed it!
Rangers at Tynecastle next Monday evening........we could more or less eliminate them from the title race if we win.......although we'd prefer if they had something to play for when they play Celtic.
Motherwell will be the kingmakers......both us and Celtic have still to play them.
They could be competing for second place!

Come on Jambos, most Scots (barring some with Glasgow connections) are rooting for you.

On this day in 1985 Aberdeen drew with Celtic to all but clinch the league, confirmed at Tynecastle a week later, 40 seasons of Glasgow domination since then, it is time for a change.

I think it is more than a fraction - You can see it in the goals given away. I would love to see some data on physical performance/ xGA/ progressive carries or passes/high speed efforts before and after. I bet the difference is clear.

omg - I have turned into a football hipster. "they are just not doing thier jobs and letting the manager down there Alan." That feels better. Phew.
Don't believe you. So your level wouldn't drop by even 1%?
No - I offer the same low quality service regardless of leadership ;)

or perhaps a better metric to look at would be PSxG or xGoT
(PSxG measures goal probability after the shot is struck, not just where it was taken from)

I feel dirty.

I thought PSxG was expected goals for Paris St Germain?

And isn't xGoT some derivative class 37 nomenclature?

Is dirtiness shared dirtiness halved? :D :D

The margins involved in elite football are tiny. To go from say, winning 60% of your 50-50 challenges to maybe 30% involves such a small drop off it may mot even be possible to pinpoint a reason. A small drop off isn't downing tools, it is simply the result of not being motivated or having faith in the manager. It is clear Rosenior never had the capacity for the job from the outset. This happens across all elite sports.
