I'm trying to think of something positive about that tripe fest other than I'm making a weekend of it seeking out types of train I've never travelled on before such as 701s and refurbished 458s

It puts Spurs in the bottom three which is funny. They won't go down though because God has lost his sense of humour this year.

Winning 4-0 is also significant, as while there's still a way to go, West Ham have the worst goal difference among the four teams currently battling to avoid relegation (considering Burnley and Wolves are all but done for), so that was a significant closing of that gap, which could close further among rivals if they lose this weekend.

Bury FC 1 ... Nantwich Town 0

Once more, Gigg Lane received an attendance figure of 3,942 to see Bury face a good mid-table side and it was not until the 58th minute when Bury scored the only goal of the game. This result consolidates Bury's top of the league place, two points clear of Avro, with 40 games now played. Stalybridge Celtic's run of wins was surprisingly ended by a side well down the league table.

Northern Premier League...West Division

Bury FC 4 ... Witton Albion 1

In a division where 300-500 seems the average home gate, Bury FC today had a somewhat amazing attendance of 7,052 to watch their penultimate league match. Witton took an early 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, but two goals from Bury in the 31st and 41st minutes saw them 2-1 up at half time and they added two more second-half goals in the 65th minute and five minutes into stoppage time to consolidate their top spot in the league.

Last season, they were promoted to this league as Champions of the North West Counties, Premier League and good leadership and a strong squad have seen then more than hold their own at this higher level.

Next Saturday, they play their final league match away at Atherton Collieries and a win there would give them the automatic promotion place. Lying second after today's matches are the very good AVRO side, two points behind Bury but with an inferior goal difference.

FC United of Manchester 0 ... Hyde United 1

An expected good attendance of 2,920 at Broadhurst Park saw third-place FC United hope to keep a good play-off position with a win against a Hyde side who have looked relegation candidates in a season when they had three managers. It was goal-less at half-time and Hyde scored the only goal of the match in the 67th minute.

The latest manager seems to have motivated Hyde and in their last five matches, they have won three and drawn two with the result of only more more league match to play, they are clear of relegation.

I would like him gone, the subs yesterday my word, may as well leave it until the season ends but this ownership I don’t think will sack him this season.

Even in the relegation years I never came away thinking they never battled, not good enough yes but showed fight, Chelsea teams always gave it a go, half the time now we watch walking football & no desire or effort at all from most of them.

I'm not so sure about Spurs, they have Wolves (h), Villa (a), Leeds (h), Chelsea (a), Everton (h). At best I can see them only getting 4 or 5 points from the last 5, and that goes way against their current form. Forest have opened up the gap to 5 today, and West Ham still have a game in hand and have started to find wins again. There's a reason why promotion hopefuls in League 1 are singing "We're going to Tottenham, you're off to York" to teams fighting relegation from League 1....

A fast start to the game, being 1-1 after 10 minutes. The game then slowed a little, with both teams having decent spells. 3-1 straight after the break and our many good chances after made it look like we had sealed the game, but Sancho had other ideas! Gave the ball away for Hume to make it 3-2 and did the same again no more than a minute later for 3-3. Sunderland then went in again and if Diarra had made the simple pass to Talbi then it would have been 3-4, game over and a very embarrassing day for us. Tammy Abraham with the instant response to that after a brilliant Lucas Digne cross thankfully all but gave us the deserved 3 points. Buendia then had an open goal but his shot from the centre circle went clearly wide. Full-time whistle after a Sunderland free-kick which came to nothing. 4-3 definitely flattered Sunderland and this game will definitely go on to be a Premier League classic.

I was a little disappointed with the Wolves fans at Elland Road on Saturday; good numbers but I hardly heard them. Considering relegation has been obvious for some time, I expected a bit more dark humour, having a laugh at how bad Wolves were or even just plenty of booze to have been consumed. Whenever Leeds have gone down we’ve always sung our hearts out and had a laugh about it.

There was some dark humour going on but yes we weren’t very loud the problem is apathy has set in as there doesn’t appear to be much hope for the future.
I might be getting carried away with negativity but I can see us becoming another Stoke or Blackburn or worse doing a double dip again.

Well Darlo have managed to blow our best chance of the play offs in a decade. One win in the last 6 ( at top of the league South Shields!) have seen us blow up at a crucial moment. So frustrating.

I always say Darlo will find new and exciting ways to mess things up but this weekend at Telford takes the biscuit:

• Bossed the game
• Missed loads of chances
• Missed 2x penalties ( same taker, same result)
• Had a man sent off late on
• Conceded a stoppage time equaliser from yet another soft corner
• Play offs place given away

As you say the pressure is all on Spurs especially if West Ham win tonight so hopefully Edwards will play two upfront and have a go, playing one short bloke upfront with four static midfielders behind him and trying not to lose isn't working. I'm sure we'll get an atmosphere going even if it's just taking the mick out of them and if we score first....

and has thrown up a very interesting mathematical curiosity.

Ossett need to win to be sure of avoiding relegation
Bradford need to win to be sure of making the play-offs
Pontefract need to win to make the play-offs if Bradford fail to win
Dunston need to win to ensure that they finish 3rd and have a home tie in the play-off semi-finals

One point would be of no use whatsoever to any of these four clubs. They might just as well lose!

(The same could be said about Emley who need to beat Newton Aycliffe to snatch 3rd place if Dunston fail to win. But Newton Aycliffe are down so have nothing to play for.)
