I doubt that there will be any budget in January, the owners want the club to be self sufficient so it's sell to buy and the squad gets ever weaker. God knows who would actually want the job.

Merthyr Tydfil 3 v Darlo 1

Darlo had a man sent off after about 16 minutes. Gave a soft goal away from a corner, gave the second scorer too much space to control, turn and pick a spot and the thirds was another soft goal from a corner.

After the break Darlo reduced the deficit and looked on top for long periods even with 10 men but didn't take a couple of good chances to equaliser before falling for a sucker punch. A long journey for nothing. A nice friendly, welcoming club at Merthyr. Get your self down if you are local.

Out on the 0800 train back in the house gone 2300. sigh.

A horribly one-sided match; we barely laid a glove on them and they were toying with us by the end. Unfortunately it meant a victory for the nasty, spiteful Mark Hughes. Clearly the view from the away end is very different from the view from the press box, as the bloke from the Halifax Courier believes we were really competitive and might have got something out of the game.

Baffling.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and newspaper reporting was more important than it is these days, and at the end of season awards Coventry City gave a special award to Neville Foulger of the Coventry Evening Telegraph for "consistently going to a different game to everyone else"

Meanwhile, in a post Rob Edwards (and Matt Bloomfield) world, "Jack Wilshere's Luton" have just won 4 matches on the trot (including cup games) for the first time since 2020! Yesterday's win was a dominant performance with 3 good goals, a saved penalty, and a spell of glorious possession at the end of the match when it was all about seeing time out - I counted 19 passes in one such spell and I am pretty sure it wasn't the best of them. And, by way of a change, next week we have a 3 o'clock kick-off during an international break!

A good result against a team with 3 former Darlo players in it. Played really well although Worksop weren't fantastic. 5 different scores also including 2 that we have on loan from Boro

Saturday: Kidderminster 1 v Darlo 2
A great way win at a place we usually struggle. Took the lead and played well before giving a way a goal from our own corner. After that it looked like we were happy to take a point and defended really hard. Proper old school backs to the walls stuff before nicking the winner in injury time! fantastic stuff!

I think it says much for the high class of footballers in the squad of the Portugal international team. Portugal are still head of their qualifying World Cup group.
