No, we don’t know for sure, but at non-league teams like Boston there are generally a lot of volunteers in and around the place who can get to hear and see stuff.

Yeah that's what we thought initially, a very strange decision.

Rushall 1 v Darlo 1. We should have won by all accounts. Hosts had one shot on target all game.

However on Saturday I joined the prawn sandwich brigade and went to see Middlesbrough 0 v Bristol City 2. We went in the Legends Lounge to celebrate an important milestone birthday. The experience there was pretty good, a three course meal, free booze, talk from 2 club legends, half time refreshments and post match talk and more free booze. The game was the only bad part!

Boro are a good young side, easy on the eye, move the ball well but lack any killer instinct and look a bit "soft". They made and wasted at least 4 good chances before gifting Bristol City 2 goals. Carrick seems a good young coach but didn't change things quickly enough and simply didn't have a plan B when the game was crying out for more directness and more urgency. They won't get promoted unless they get a bit more steel and kill teams off.

Happy for any boro fans on here to disagree!

Been on hols (and out of wifi) so here's a bit of older news; Bury FC within 8 days lost (a) in the FA Cup (Sat), lost in the league's Macron Trophy (a -Weds) and lost in the FA Vase on pens (Sat).

Not as bad as it looks, the FA Cup defeat away to a higher team was expected, the youth played the midweek game, but the loss in the Vase to a team in the same league on pens is a bit of a disapointment. Even though the game was supposed to be away at Chadderton it was moved to Gigg.

Are armchair fans allowed on here? getting to be a bit of an armchair fan of Brighton, think they lie currently in the top 5. Much as I dislike the concept of a "Premier League" I like Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford in there - it's a bit like the old third and fourth divisions where I went to as an away fan!

Been on hols (and out of wifi) so here's a bit of older news; Bury FC within 8 days lost (a) in the FA Cup (Sat), lost in the league's Macron Trophy (a -Weds) and lost in the FA Vase on pens (Sat).

Bury are still the only side in their division not to have lost a league game this season, but the worrying thing is that they have drawn five league matches so far, thus losing valuable points. Remember how close to promotion to the Northern Premier League, West Division, they came last season, but still finished third behind the two Wythenshawe clubs.

Chadderton are currently having a good league season, lying in second place. Won 12, drawn 5, lost 2.

With regard to armchair fans, at the age of 79, I regularly report on the Hyde United matches, but so poor is my health, I dare not visit the Project Solar Stadium.

The Tigers (= Hyde United) currently participate in the FA Cup, FA Trophy (3 times semi-finalists), Cheshire Senior Cup (7 times winners) as well as the Manchester Premier Cup (8 times winners). Helps that they have a 3G pitch!

Ilkeston Town 3 ... Hyde United 2

This Tuesday night match saw Ilkeston score first in the 18th minute only for Hyde to equalise five minutes later. After 57 minutes Ilkeston took a 2-1 lead only foy Hyde to again equalise seven minutes later. It looked odds-on a draw, but Ilkeston scored the winner in the 90th minute.

One oddity I've noticed about Scunthorpe's fixture list is the comparative lack of Saturday afternoon home games.

These have been so far, Marine and Chorley in August, Warrington on the 7th September, Oxford City on the 5th October, with our next Saturday at home due on the 2nd November.

I very much doubt Blues will achieve the points total mentioned but it is hard to see anyone stopping them winning the title. Relegation must have seemed like a disaster in May but if that's what it took (along with the takeover) to get them winning games and selling St Andrews out every home game then it was a price surely worth paying.

Interesting that both Blues and Villa were at home last night in big games, must have been many a good year since that happened.

Away from the distraction of cup and trophy matches. Bury won 2-0 away at Charnock Richard on Tuesday, attendance 741.
