Lovely trip to Hillsborough tonight for a routine win to hopefully kick start our season.

We (Stockton Town) were fortunate it wasn't at least 6-1. Hyde were the better team on the day. Mind you, once we scored our 1st goal there was hope we may get lucky and equalise. My first away game of the season proper, and it's going to be a long coach ride back home.Northern Premier League...Premier Division...
(From your armchair reporter)
Hyde United 4 ...Stockton Town 1
Two teams in the top four, so this would be a test of each other. Hyde scored in the 13th minute and added a second in the 41st minute. Hyde then took a 3-0 lead in the 58th minute, but Stockton scored in the 78th minute. Just into injury time, Hyde added a fourth goal.
As Hebburn only drew 1-1 at home to Basford, and Macclesfield won 3-2 at Whitby, Hyde, Macclesfield and Hebburn have all now played 5, won 4 and drawn 1, but Hyde do have the better goal difference of the three. so are now top of the league.
Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has died at the age of 76.
Eriksson, the first non-British manager of the England team, led the Three Lions to the quarter-finals at three major tournaments during his five-year spell in charge between 2001 and 2006.
In January Eriksson said he had "at best" a year to live after being diagnosed with cancer.
The Swede managed 12 clubs, including Manchester City, Leicester, Roma and Lazio, winning 18 trophies.
Such a shame, seemed to handle this terrible disease with dignity to the outside world but for him & many all cancers are a terrible affliction.Full time for Sven-Goran Eriksson:

In the National League today AFC Fylde v Southend United has been postponed due to the cancellation of Southend's train from Euston! Although, having checked RTT, I can't see any Preston-bound trains that have been cancelled, only some to Manchester Piccadilly.

National League Statement: AFC Fylde Vs Southend United - The Enterprise National League
This afternoon’s fixture between AFC Fylde and Southend United has been postponed, the National League can confirm.www.thenationalleague.org.uk
To be fair to Southend, it turns out it isn't a cancellation, it's a failure. They are on 1S52 1018 Euston - Glasgow which didn't even get as far as South Hampstead, and appears to still be where it sat down. There havent been any Avanti cancellations this morning out of Euston.
There have, however, been several LNR cancellations on the Crewe servcices. It seems that Southend perhaps thouht that the ideal pre match preparation was a journey taking nearly an hour longer than it needed to, on commuter seats, with a change at Crewe.
draw on Monday - we will draw Kidderminster or Oxford City away LOLFrom the FA Cup 1st qualifying round:
Stockton Town 1 - Widnes 0
A quite dull & flat game overall, especially the first half in which it seemed neither side wanted to go through to the next round. Mikey Roberts came on as a sub in the second half and provided the only bit of excitement in the game by scoring within a minute of coming on. Even the manager said in the post game interview that he wouldn't fancy watching the highlights video [on YouTube] as there weren't any.
FC Halifax Town 0-1 Aldershot
Ugh
After the heady optimism of scoring twice in a match last week, back to reality. Utterly toothless in attack. A perfect away performance by Aldershot - score very early, sit back, time waste at every opportunity and hey presto, three points. If it was your team, you'd be pleased, but on the other side its hugely frustrating and the ref did nothing to stop it
Does make me wonder why a semi-pro or possibly fully pro didn't go up the night before and stay over when a trip of c. 250 miles is involved?
