Loved him at Celtic. Wish him nothing but the best. A good fit for Spurs in many ways but they (club hierarchy and fans alike) will need to be patient on occasion, last night a case in point.

Indeed! I have never been so happy watching football. Yesterday may not have gone well but we can move on from this and learn from our mistakes.

Quite pleased with the appointment of Liam Manning as Bristol City manager, on the grounds of him not being Lampard. I would have preferred Eustace, but Manning did OK at MK Dons - and whether Eustace would come to a club in our state is debatable

I only saw the second half, but blimey it looked like a training match. Atletico were 2-0 up and Celtic had already had Maeda sent off half way through the first half, so I wasn't expecting too much, but boy Celtic were poor.

Man City are comfortably through to the last 16 in the Champions League, beating Young Boys 3-0. Celtic are virtually out after that 6-0 thrashing!

Quite pleased with the appointment of Liam Manning as Bristol City manager, on the grounds of him not being Lampard. I would have preferred Eustace, but Manning did OK at MK Dons - and whether Eustace would come to a club in our state is debatable

Manning is a very good coach whose stock is pretty high at the moment. Wish him all the best.

I can't believe that I left the game feeling absolutely gutted that we'd drawn! It's a really tough league to be in, and we'll get pasted somewhere along the line, but I think we're giving it a better go than many pundits expected.

You must have seen a different match to me as in the one that I saw, the half-time score was 2-2. Rashford was sent off in the 42nd minute.

Simple rules for me: conscious, all limbs in roughly the right alignment, no blood, no bone: play on.

( oh and writhing about on the floor or banging the turf: straight red. 17 game ban. That kind of stuff is what VAR should be used for!)

Seriously - I do think the missing "intent" section of the laws needs more thought. We don't work in absolutes ( "all a matter of opinion Gary") even with the current laws so why remove it? So many handballs or fouls given that are clearly not intentional.

Sunderland 3 - 1 Birmingham

Sunderland are a joy to watch, even if the playing out from defence is a bit hair raising at times. (Although today to be fair both first choice centre backs were suspended and their replacements had never played together before). The average age of today's team was 22; Pat Roberts was the oldest at 26. Jack Clarke and Roberts are pretty much unplayable on their day and Birmingham couldn't handle them, and it was a shame that the ref didn't deal with the repeated fouling of them a bit more firmly. Dan Neil captaining his home town club in O'Nien's absence and looking like the proudest bloke on earth

Birmingham are one point from 15 under celebmanager Rooney, and looked clueless for large parts of the game. What is it with these foreign owners and their desire to appoint unproven managers?
