The Championship run-in is gonna be a white-knuckle ride this season for sure. We were in second place in the "live" league table for a few minutes today, albeit having played up to 4 games more than some of the teams around us. Still think promotion is a long shot, though the top six is now in our hands even if the chasing pack win their games in hand.

I must say that the quality of the league this year is at an all time low. We're nothing special and neither are half the teams around us yet we all find ourselves in the top 6 heading into March. Our run in is favourable but we're notorious for going on a death spiral in the spring, hopefully the win on Saturday is us turning a corner rather than a false dawn.

It's now been announced that Russia's national teams, and all Russian clubs are suspended from FIFA and UEFA competitions "until further notice".

Whether this means Poland will have a "walkover" into the play-off final, or if the next-best team from qualifying will take Russia's place, I've thus far not been able to find out.

I would like to address the speculation in media over the past few days in relation to my ownership of Chelsea FC. As I have stated before, I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the Club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the Club, the fans, the employees, as well as the Club’s sponsors and partners.

The sale of the Club will not be fast-tracked but will follow due process. I will not be asking for any loans to be repaid. This has never been about business nor money for me, but about pure passion for the game and Club. Moreover, I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery.

Please know that this has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, and it pains me to part with the Club in this manner. However, I do believe this is in the best interest of the Club.

I hope that I will be able to visit Stamford Bridge one last time to say goodbye to all of you in person. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to be part of Chelsea FC and I am proud of all our joint achievements. Chelsea Football Club and its supporters will always be in my heart.

Also, Clyde FC will not be having their lease renewed for Broadwood after May 2023 (perhaps Clyde may return to their spiritual home of Rutherglen as they used to play at Shawfield?), and the ladies team have quit too.

David Goodwillie: Female Clyde players quit as council ban striker & opt not to renew lease​

David Goodwillie previously played for Clyde from March 2017 until joining Raith Rovers in January
The entire playing squad and general manager of Clyde's women's team have quit the club after the men's side re-signed David Goodwillie.
And North Lanarkshire Council - who own the club's stadium - say they will not renew Clyde's lease when it expires in May 2023 and will end it sooner if the club allow Goodwillie into Broadwood.
The striker, who was judged in a civil court in 2016 to be a rapist, this week returned to the part-time Scottish League 1 club after a backlash met his January move to full-time Raith Rovers.
Rovers said the 32-year-old would not play for them following several high-profile sponsors and board members leaving in protest and loaned him back to Clyde - where he spent five years.
However, the former Scotland international's return to Broadwood has now sparked more anger.

"All of the players in the ladies team have discussed the situation with the general manager/secretary and are all in agreement that we no longer wish to play for Clyde FC," the women's team said in a statement.
"As a group of female footballers, all we wish to do is play the sport that we love but due to the current circumstances we are unable to do this.
"At this time we wish to ensure the well-being and privacy of our players therefore we would ask that players are not approached personally for comment regarding this matter."
North Lanarkshire Council have written to Clyde stating that Goodwillie "must not be permitted access to the stadium, for any purpose, with immediate effect".
The local authority have cited a clause in the tenancy where a person can be denied entry "on the grounds of undesirable behaviour".
In a statement, they added: "The council believes in rehabilitation... however, Mr Goodwillie has not expressed any contrition.
"We regret that this action is necessary. However, the council has a responsibility to the wider community to act, and to send a clear signal that abuse must not be tolerated."
The council also said they did not act in this manner during Goodwillie's first spell at Clyde because the stadium was not legally under their control at that time.

It's all very weird. No one was bothered in the slightest during his 5 years there yet now it's worth kicking them out of the ground for.

Probably a mixture of:

- mostly new playing and coaching staff on the women's team (they have a very high turnover in the women's amateur game)
- increased social focus on sexual misdemeanours and crimes by men against women
- the council now being involved with the ground's lease

Some of the bandwagon-jumping surrounding the two transfers has definitely been unacceptable in my view. For example there is no need for some of the politicians to be getting involved in the way they have.

Reading some of the comments on this ‍♀️‍♀️ Maybe, just maybe, some things have changed in 5 years. Maybe some women (and men) feel more empowered to speak out about certain issues now. Maybe we should be embracing that, rather than using it as an reason to excuse the inexcusable!

Still in a very precarious league position as they have played many more matches than some of those around them at the foot of the table. Gannon has a lot to answer for in his short-term of office, so new manager Nick Spooner will see the positive from this result.

Both sides were reduced to ten men after 35 minutes (straight red cards), with a further Morpeth player sent off in the second half. Sadly, other results mean Grantham Town remain bottom.
