Financially there's not much difference between being winner and runner up.
The prize money is based on appearance money, prize money for each round, and a bonus for group performance.
Then there's the TV money added on top. English clubs get to share the BT money, and that's based on their performance in the competition.
When Leicester got to the quarter finals last year, they earned a total of €81,681,000. €49,073,000 of that was TV money. Their TV money was particularly high due to the poor performance of the other English teams.
The other English teams last year:
Arsenal received €64,573,000 (€37,965,000 TV)
Manchester City €50,204,000 (€24,550,000 TV)
Tottenham €43,280,000 (€26,626,000 TV)
Real Madrid won the competition, but ended up getting less money than Leicester: €81,051,000 (€26,170,000 TV)
Will Harry Kane be claiming some of these monies in lieu of not being able to claim goals in the final...

Championship playoff final today and I'll be down the pub watching. The quality of the football is better in the championship compared to the prem but equally I'm concerned about how much money the owners will continue to put in if we're not promoted. It's demoralising to get beaten week in week out (ask a WBA fan) and it's nice to be a large fish in a smaller pond.
We can beat anyone if we play well but our form has been patchy recently and it was very nervous sitting back against Boro in the second leg when maybe we should have gone for a second - especially in the first half.
As for the CL final I want Liverpool to win as I despise Portuguese Ronaldo.

On the play-off final, I'm afraid I'm backing Fulham for 2 reasons:
- I feel like they "deserve" it more. They were the team we wanted to avoid last year, and luckily we did. They tend to be a good footballing side, almost always playing with an attacking mentality that my team is only able to produce on rare occasions.
- Their manager/head coach isn't Steve Bruce.
Besides, Liverpool are the underdogs compared to Real Madrid and we all love those stories, don't we?

I think i detest the cheat Sergio Ramos more than the prancing show pony that is Christiano Ronaldo.
He should have been booked, he clearly pulled Salah over.

Liverpool Should never have gotten rid of Pegguy Arpexhad.
I'll have to look at it again, but I think Salah going off changed the game. We were the much better team until then.
Liverpool's issue is we don't have anyone of any real quality on the bench. I hope Klopp addresses that in the summer.
Ouch...
1) I think Ramos knew exactly what he was doing when he got his arm caught up and made sure his entire weight fell awkwardly on Salah.
2) Karius made a couple of unbelievably silly mistakes in a game where after Salah had gone off everyone had to have the absolute game of their lives to stand any chance whatsoever.
3) I’m glad Ronaldo didn’t score and have a chance to rip his shirt off.
4) That Gareth Bale goal was a stunner and even though he’s got terrible hair you can’t help but admire the skill. Amazing.
5) Gutted. Didn’t get the chance to show what they were capable of, and there were so few options on the bench.
It’s been an amazing run though.
6) Beers to be drunk now (maybe 7)... Having had to drive out to a friends house with the boys to watch it on his TV which started playing up because of the thunder, basically everything that could go wrong did tonight.

I've seen it again, and I still think it was a deliberate and malicious foul. There's absolutely no way in a month of Sundays that was accidental.
I don't think any of our outfield players had a particularly poor game, but personally I'd have to say Mané was our best player tonight.

Salah's injury doesn't sound good either unfortunately, I'd be gutted for him if he misses the World Cup.

Ok, not automatic, but the promotion prediction came true. Fulham were the best side in the Championship for the second half of the season. It’s a shame Villa aren’t up as well; I think they would have won the play offs if Fulham had gone up automatically and Colin’s team of (agri)cultural footballers had been in the playoffs.
It's been said for a while that Liverpool need a keeper and the chickens came home to roost tonight, quite comical Karius trying to claim he'd been fouled on the first one. Worldy from Bale and Real Madrid just have the know how, I think Liverpool used up all their luck against Man City!

It wasn't our "luck" running out at all, our goalkeeper made two shocking errors and a malicious foul changed the game in Madrid's favour.
Liverpool were in the final because they deserved to be.
A fair slice of luck against Man City!
Even if City's two disallowed goals stood, Liverpool still scored five goals.

Disappointing at the end to see not one Liverpool player go to console the distraught Karius. The bloke has just had the worst night of his life in front of the entire world, likely obliterated his confidence and mental health and it takes the opposition to comfort him. As sore and annoyed as the other 10 will have been, you at least need your captain to make some form of token effort to check on him.
I totally agree. He made two bad mistakes which both led to goals, but I don't for one second doubt he's feeling beyond awful right now.
I hope he feels better soon, I really do. Absolute credit to him for going over to the fans after the game ended.
I thought that was quite poor, just Real Madrid players consoling him at the end. Contrary to the club anthem Karius did walk alone.
Very cynical foul by Ramos which the referee couldn't possibly have seen. I wonder what VAR would have made of it?
