Another draw, another game in which we failed to score, but then again another clean sheet. Only the two Mancs have a better defensive record than us. A game neither side really deserved to win or lose, so a fair result. The less said about Rajiv Van La Parra and his rather desperate attempt to win us a penalty the better, but watch for that one on MOTD.

Winchester City notched up three points in a game in which they could, and should, have scored more. The hosts flew out of the blocks and were ahead after just two minutes when Pat Cox stabbed home from close range and dominated the first half against an ill-disciplined Mangotsfield side, including hitting the bar, before the visitors were reduced to ten men with Josh Jones receiving two bookings in ten minutes. The hosts completely controlled the second half, laying siege to the Mangotsfield goal, but it wasn't until the last minutes when that bore fruit, when Rob Carr slid the ball home from a throw-in before Oli Bailey lashed home a minute later.

So I heard from BBC Radio Bostonshire... Oddly enough the Pilgrims were about the only Lincolnshire side that did any good. Lincoln City going down 4-1 at Notts County. My team, Grantham Town losing 1-0 at Altrincham and Gainsborough losing to Salford City.

Poor all round. Awful game. 2 soft penalties. Little quality on show. Long way there. Long way back. Couldn't find a decent pub. On the train 0730 back at 2230. I must be mad.

however despite being absolute rubbish recently we are 12th yet only one point of York in the last play off slot!

Harrogate 2-0 York

3 years ago we reached the League 2 playoffs. Today we lost to Harrogate away in the Conference North. We may have lost 6-1 at Guiseley and Gateshead last season but this is about as embarrassing result of the club's history. Something has to change

Harrogate Town are full time professionals and have brought in seasoned Conference/Conference north players plus they have that 4g pitch. You are a big scalp for lots of clubs at this level and I warned you it was tough at this level. They should be up at the top end of the league come the end of the season. They are top as I write above money bags Salford

BTW - we got beat by Team Northumbria (university) on a pitch I used to play on. That was fairly embarrassing.

Ipswich 5-2 Sunderland

Now I'm back in London for a final year it is time to start ticking off some grounds since York aren't playing near here what felt like they were very other week in the Conference and League 2. It's took me 3 years but finally managed to visit Portman Road last night and a very nice ground it is. I chose a good game with 7 goals and Ipswich seeing off a very very poor Sunderland 5-2.

Winchester City's good start to the season continued as they produced a first half to remember at Didcot. They were in front right from the off as Oli Bailey headed home from Dan Williamson's cross before Rob Carr doubled the lead from 20 yards. It was three soon afterwards as Bailey got his second of the match before Simba Mlambo's snapshot gave City a 4-0 half time lead. Didcot got back into the game with a deflected free kick and a penalty in the second half but City held on to come away with three points.

What's happened to Sheffield "Massive" Wednesday? 2 defeats on the bounce and Carlos Carbootsale seemingly losing the plot even before last night's defeat to managerless Birmingham City... I feel sorry for the majority of Owls fans including the ones on here, but it does feel a bit like karma after a noisy minority of them were adamant they would blow us away in the play-offs...

Throwing money in a scatter-gun fashion usually ends badly, as does beating the hell out of a poor defenceless £20 note!

Of course on Saturday lunchtime we face "Totteningham" as Ossie called them. Billed as the first "real" test of the season, I feel that if we can keep it respectable (i.e. below 6) it'll have been a qualified success. I'd feel less nervous about facing them at Wembley than at home.

I refused to use such a naff title in my little book of games attended and recorded their results as "Great Britain U23".

Speaking of names, now that the FA are clamping down on AFC Wimbledon for calling Franchise FC just "MK", will somebody please clamp down on anybody who calls Bradford City just "Bradford"? Bradford are in National League North and this laziness upsets both sets of fans.

Indeed. And I bet they would be quite happy to get rid of that awful "AFC" suffix that the FA impose on phoenix clubs (as would clubs with FC, 1883, or whatever attached). I believe there is a statutory period (10 years?) after which clubs can revert to their traditional names (cf. Newport County, Accrington Stanley, etc)

FC United of Manchester is a name that grinds my gears... if they wanted to bring their club "back to its roots" the obvious name would surely be Newton Heath, or AFC Newton Heath if the Football Association insists.

Roy of the Rovers to be rebooted by Rebellion

Out-of-print British football comic Roy of the Rovers is to be rebooted.

The adventures of Roy Race, a star striker known for his amazing football skills and sense of fair play, first saw print in the 1950s.

The character's weekly comic ended in 1995, and he featured in Match of the Day magazine until its cancellation in 2001. He has not been seen since.

Oxford-based Rebellion will publish a series of graphic novels and books alongside the 2018/19 football season.

The publisher bought the rights to the character last year.

It currently prints the 2000 AD comic and its sister publication The Judge Dredd Megazine.

Jason Kingsley, Rebellion CEO, said he was "delighted" the character was back "for a new generation of readers", calling him a "fantastic addition" to the company's roster of characters.

Ben Smith, head of books and publishing at Rebellion, said: "There are only a handful of truly iconic characters in British comics, and Roy Race is surely one of them.

"We look forward to bringing Roy to modern audiences in a completely fresh incarnation that honours the extraordinary legacy of the character.

"We will be telling stories that connect with readers both young and old.

"There is a dearth of football-related fiction on the shelves, and we're looking forward to correcting that, whilst giving a classic British comic character a new lease of life in the process."
