I may have seen you there as I also went (stood in the big terrace nearest the turnstiles). I was expecting a York win but until 75 minutes there wasn't any serious pressure on the Chorley goal.

Don't know what I saw. Tactics from Mills again very questionable. Started with 2 big lads in Parkin and Rankine up front who could not deliver due to the awful balls we were putting into them. Don't think any cross until late in the 2nd half went pass the first man.

Ossett Town 2 - 1 Consett (FA Cup Qualifying Round)

In an attempt to prevent being in the big time going to my head, a new ground chalked off and international break boredom kept at bay, a trip to my nearest known ground saw Ossett come from behind to get one step closer to Wembley against a spirited Consett side cheered on by a small but passionate group of travelling support.
The game itself was rather uneventful but it's always nice to watch a game with a pint in the hand... just a shame that non-league terracing has to double up as a children's play area!

Wayne Rooney has been charged with drink driving. This beggars belief. If I'd been blessed with his ability to play football at international standard I would not be drinking and nor would I be smoking. Absolutely astonishing.

Perhaps he may regret retiring from International Football now as he could have been in the England Camp instead of getting himself over the limit.

Paulton Rovers 1...Winchester City 0 (Chandler 42)

Winchester City's hopes of an FA Cup run were snuffed out in the Mendips in a case of daylight robbery. Two key players were injured by deliberate fouls in the first half (one of whom needed stitches below his left eye) and the hosts, getting every decision their way, took the lead just before half time. City laid siege to the Paulton goal in the second half and came close several times, but were denied a clear penalty for handball and saw a stoppage time equaliser wrongly ruled out for "offside" in some of the most biased refereeing I have seen since a bald Norwegian was sent to Stamford Bridge.

We did indeed manage to bring in a midfielder, albeit on loan. Derby midfielder Jacob Butterfield arrives on a season long loan in exchange for Sam Winnall, who went the opposite direction, also on a season long loan.

I'm pleased with Wednesday's window, particularly as I didn't think we needed to strengthen anywhere other than at centre back and bringing in an extra player in midfield. I think Boyd and Butterfield (on loan) are decent signings, although I can't comment on van Aken or Venancio (on loan, with option to buy) because I haven't seen either of them play yet. Hopefully we can start getting some decent results after the international break.

If you're happy with a midfield player who only passes sideways when there are great options for a forward pass Jacob is your man. I'm thrilled to bits that he's off our wage bill.

Many great footballers have had their demons:- look at George Best; Diego Maradona; Paul Gascoigne; Frank Worthington(!)... it isn't a new thing, though with the amount of money these (basically) kids are getting these days, the game has a responsibility to ensure it doesn't go to their heads.

I concur that its hardly ground breaking news but the inability to look after your body and make the most of your talent is still astonishing. Cristiano Ronaldo even at the age of 32 is still a fantastic player, helped to a large extent by the fact that he doesn't smoke and doesn't drink alcohol.

Spennymoor 2-4 York City

On the coach back from the match but here's a quick summary. 3-0 HT lead for us after an excellent second half. On typical York fashion we were probably the worst I've seen us all season in the 2nd half and got pegged back to 3-2. Our keeper made 4 or 5 world class saves. A late error led to Felix scoring an open goal from 45 yards to secure us the win.

Oldham were ditch they first victory of season as Fleetwood scored equaliser penalty in 93rd mins to draw match. Oldham drop to bottom of League One table but having pick good point against Fleetwood today I hopeful Latics will start winning matches sooner then later.

The match between arguably the 2 biggest teams in the league finishes 2-0 our way in front of over 3000 fans. As usual with City, a good first half then a poorer second half but a much better performance than the last home game.

Winchester City will feel unlucky not to get something from a very tight encounter marred by some rather poor finishing. The visitors shaded the first half and forced several saves from the home keeper. The hosts had chances of their own in the second half, as did Winchester, with Pat Cox forcing another save from the host keeper. With 12 minutes left, however, the hosts found the breakthrough as Ben Whitehead curled a shot into the top corner. City searched for the equaliser, forcing another save out of the host keeper, and Pat Cox headed wide at the death, but it was ultimately Cirencester's day. A weekend off and a home tie against East Cowes in the Hampshire Cup await City before the visit of low-lying Mangotsfield.

In excess of 33k watched Leeds dominate today in a display of footballing perfection* against a poor Brewers side who could only manage one shot all game- not even on target. I'm very much looking forward to our match against Birmingham on Tuesday at Elland Road.

Well, I guess that was a reality-check...

First goal was ridiculously spawny, but West Ham could've been out of sight by half time if they were any good... Came into it more in the second half but never really had that cutting edge, once they got the lucky first goal it was pretty much game-over. Certainly felt the referee was either a homer or a "favour the established sides"-er but as we lost that can't look like anything other than sour grapes.

But I'd have taken 7 from 4 before the season, so can't moan too much.

Oldham won for first time this season to move off bottom of LG1 table. Look like main action of this match came in final 10 mins where Bristol score two goals within two mins (83rd & 85th mins) to make it 2-2 only for Oldham score two mins from time (88th mins) thanks to on loan Preston player Doyle.
