Moving away from Euro 2016 and Oldham manager job is still rumbling on... When I posted this on 29th June I thought Oldham would have new manager in next couple of days but 24 hours later Kuqi pull out of job at last minute (believe deal collapsed something that keep happening at Oldham) and week later we still haven't found new manager but latest news is Steve Robinson who were part of Northern Ireland coach role in Euro 2016 is set to become new Oldham manager. I believe that when they confirm it on Oldham Athletic site.

It is now confirmed that the 41 year old Motherwell manager, Stephen Robinson, who acted as assistant coach to Northern Ireland at the Euro 2016 tournament, has been appointed as the new manager of Oldham Athletic.

Stiliyan Petrov has made his first Aston Villa appearance in more than four years after recovering from cancer.

The former Villa captain played the second half of Saturday's 8-0 friendly over Austrian sixth-tier club GAK 1902.

Bulgarian Petrov, 37, was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in March 2012 and retired 14 months later.

The midfielder is attempting to make a professional comeback, and has been training with Villa in pre-season.

He was invited to train with the Championship club for a month on a non-contract basis, as he looks to build up fitness after his long absence from the professional game.

Jordan Ayew, Joe Bennett and Rudy Gestede scored two goals each in Villa's victory, adding to early goals from Micah Richards and Libor Kozak.

Very happy that Oldham finally got manager after six weeks since John Sheridan left us, Robinson got he work cut out at Oldham but aleast he started bring new players in (knowing three of them playing under him at Motherwell last season) and knowing I feel Oldham will be fighting it out for relegation place this season we may avoid going down.

Just saw it in the replay too when Portugal had that chance. I wonder if it'll deteriorate when he goes for his medal.

I could handle it if only the commentators wouldn't gush all over them and instead call them out on their dirty behaviour.

Parking the bus is a tactic that works but is panned in every other circumstance.

Indeed, it is a sad turn of events when what you say occurs. Stretchers are notorious in garnering unwarranted attention, corner flags also like nothing better than to be able to flaunt their flags....

Perhaps UEFA will insist that in future years, team captains do not seek to emulate managerial staff in such a manner as you describe. Incidentally, is there an accepted athletic code for managers that governs how and when they are allowed to run within the confines of the technical area..
