My mate who was out there said the searches into the stadium were virtually not existent, said it was a quick pat down by a steward type person and then straight into the ground. He said the searches when he goes to away games over here are much more. Reckons he could have got anything in.

I'm meant to be going down to Lille on Wednesday for the day for the Russia Slovakia game (couldnt get Thursday off for the England game), really don't know if I can be bothered to now.

I've heard similar from somebody out there, quite alarming in normal circumstances but all the more so with the potential terrorist threat.

I obviously hope I'm wrong but I can foresse something serious happening before this tournament is over and probably not terrorist related, the French don't seem to have a clue!

Being born in the northern inner-city part of Manchester in 1945, the phrases that I would more likely to have in my memory would be of the type...."Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs" and "The herbalists on Oldham Road is still open"...

Incidentally, one of the television companies in a trail for the Euro 2016 event. featured words on the screen from the French Revolution (and the national French) motto that came from "the lower orders", but having no sense of historical reality, they then chose then to show the aristocrats (who most probably already have had their appointment with Madame Guillotine) as the people in ceremonial dress and pomp...:roll:

150 Russians 'behind' Euro 2016 violence

Some 150 Russians were behind much of the violence that erupted in Marseille when Russia played England in Euro 2016, French prosecutors have said.

Ten people - six Britons, three French and an Austrian - face an immediate trial, Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said.

But he said just two Russians had been arrested, both for a pitch invasion.

About 35 people have been injured, four seriously, following three days of clashes in the city.

Police deployed tear gas to disperse football fans on a number of occasions, and there were also clashes in the stadium on Saturday following England's 1-1 Euro 2016 draw with Russia, after Russia fans appeared to rush at England supporters.

Seems odd to me that they know 150 Russians were involved, yet only two were arrested and that was for invading the pitch.

Yet six Britons face immediate trial.

I believe that "Czechia" is used only at the UN as a short form... All other usage of "Czech Republic" remains correct

Madness in tonight's fixture! Belgium play Fellaini instead of Dembélé who's had a great season at Spurs. And Italy play Darmian (who's had a bad season at Man Utd) ahead of De Sciglio and El Shaarawy, Giaccherini (who can't get into the Sunderland best XI) ahead of Florenzi and Sturaro, and Eder instead of Insigne! No idea how Jorginho missed out to be honest, and why Conte loves Parolo so much is a mystery to me.

De Sciglio replaces Darmian for Italy, which is just as well because:

a) Darmian's been rubbish
b) Mattia De Sciglio is pretty much the greatest name in Euro 2016

One Merseyside-based Belgian centre forward replaces another as Origi comes on for Lukaku. De Sciglio is, as I predicted, doing a much better job of left wing-back than Darmian did (so should start the next game) - and Pellè's somehow got his finger pushed back in again

Éder gets the yellow card that he's deserved for so long for nearly throttling Dries Mertens in an attempt to get the ball. So he's been replaced by Ciro Immobile and Carrasco comes on for Ciman.

My initial reaction to this comment was to say I agree. I even heard that Conte is apparently known as the Italian Mourinho. But given that Jose's legacy from his second spell was unloading such "unsuitable" talents as De Bruyne, Lukaku and Mata I'm not so sure that description is necessarily a compliment!
