I think you will be ok as long as sherwoods passion, energy and enthusiasm passes to the players.

Passion, energy and enthusiasm only gets you so far and I'm not really convinced about Tim Sherwood, that said I think there will be three worse teams than Villa come the end of the season.

I think West Brom might be getting revenge on Saturday, probably comes down to who is going to take the FA Cup more seriously.

I think Tactics Tim is good if you want to shake the players up a bit, I think he'll get enough out of them to keep them up. There are three worse teams than Villa; I don't see any of the current bottom three getting out of it.

Next season will be interesting. I certainly wouldn't trust Tactics Tim with my transfer budget.

Adam Johnson, oh gosh

I actually have some sympathy with him. From what I have read, he met her in a nightclub that is supposed to be 18's over only. At least in my mind if you meet someone in a club, they look old enough (which is fairly easy for teenage girls) and they claim they are over 16, what else as a guy can you do? Surely that is enough for you to be reasonable sure they over 16? (Which IIRC is what the law says).

However at the same time:

1 - The guy has a girlfriend and a kid. He should not be picking up girls in clubs.

2 - As a football in the public eye, he should know better. Especially after the Ched Evans stuff. At best you give the girl a story that she can sell and make you look stupid. At worst you have a potential rape allegation coming your way. Are footballers really that dumb not to use their brains when it comes to stuff like this?

Footballers - Dumb - Brains

One of these words should not be used in conjunction with the other two, one clue, it begins with B

Stupid people exist everywhere.

Just like every other profession.

I realise that the stereotype exists.
But to be fair to footballers in general, there are many out there who are quite intelligent, Clarke Carlisle is the first name to come to mind.

Should the match fixing squad be called in ?

Hyde are now on three match unbeaten run after that win, I wonder when last time that happened?

Port Vale 0....Oldham Athletic 1

Just the tonic that Oldham needed after the home defeat last weekend by Preston North End....and a clean sheet as a bonus.

Big win that for Oldham last night and I believe it was good goal from Jones free kick that won us the match. :)

We are now within three points of play offs and got Yeovil on Saturday who we should beat but Yeovil did came to our places back in December and beat us 4-0 :( hopefully Oldham can go to Huish Park on Saturday and beat them 4-0 but I will take 1-0 win.

I have never understood the rush to suggest footballers are all a bit thick. They are there to play football not take A levels. The only intelligence they need for their job is footballing intelligence (although admittedly some don't have much of that either!)
No one ever castigates brain surgeons for not being able to curl a 30 yard free kick into the top corner

But I am sure that lots of people will castigate footballers for attempting brain surgery...:D

Apparently it was an over 25s nightclub I've read somewhere online today.

Are blokes meant to ask for ID now as well as getting something in writing before pulling a bird in a club?

I didn't rush, it's been a belief of mine for many years

Not many additions to the list so far, Clarke Carlisle and .............

Frank Lampard, Glenn Johnson, Steve Coppell, Kenny Deuchar (a qualified doctor I believe), Patrick Bamford (offered a scholarship at Harvard), Nedum Onuaha...

How about this for an introduction (need to scroll to around 50 seconds mark) Matt McClure was sent off after being on the pitch last night (Tuesday) for about 5 seconds of playing time for an alleged elbow to the face, which you can clearly see he didn't even elbow him in the face.
Wycombe have appealled against the decision of the red card.

It looks like elbow/forearm strikes head to me.

because they are largely uneducated? From a young age they are told that playing football is they key to their success and other education can be neglected.

Why do A-levels when you can earn £1k+ a week playing football?
They then go into an environment where most other people have the same experience.
Despite the issues, at least the college sports system in the USA means they aren't taking their young stars entirely out of the education system as soon as legally possible.

Well another night at Elland Road where the ref was the star of the show. It's really strange at the moment as yet again we was denied a 100% blatant penalty when Billy Sharp was fouled in the area. No penalty then in 2nd half Ipswich are awarded a very soft penalty. I believe that makes it 7 pens against Leeds at ER and none in favour. Amazing

Still against the odds we got the win with Alex Mowatt and Sharp getting our goals, poor first half, much better 2nd.

I see the Man Utd juggernaught of poor decisions continues, clearly pen to Newcastle, not given.

Would you agree that the poorest decision last night at Newcastle was that made by the Newcastle United goalkeeper in the last minute of normal time, when with the score was still goal-less, as he decided it would be a good thing to give the ball to Young to let him score the only goal of the game.

Well if one penalty not given (and he did get it wrong, standard clumsy Smalling again) is a 'juggernaught or poor decisions', then what about the 2 penalties that should have been given to Leciester in the Man City game?

Or the penalty that Arsenal should have had due to Henry's dragging down of Sanchez?

Moral of the story: it's not just united.

Certainly the biggest shock was Ashley Young scoring at all ;)

I think you'd have to agree though that the critical decisons have gone in Man Utd's favour vastly this season, you've certainly got the rub of the green a lot. There has been some shockers recently.

Man Utd have definitely had the rub of the green all season, which is why my money is on them to win the FA Cup. They're rubbish but they're lucky.

The refereeing standards in this country are shocking. I can't help but notice certain wealthy teams keep getting the rub of the green- Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs- and certain clubs do not. I'm not naive enough to think Calciopoli couldn't happen here.

Hey, you leave Ashley Young alone! He's actually been alright this season (and that's something I'll admit myself I never thought I'd be saying)

As for rub of the green etc. - to be honest we've relied on luck in a lot of things at all points this season. Is the difference between United under Moyes and United under Van Gaal a question of luck? We're barely playing any better, have tried to throw more money at problems without thinking it through again, and have only been helped by the fact that those around us have squandered opportunities as well.

He was caretaker at Leeds many years ago in the Championship, back before we went down to League One. The consensous then was that he wasn't good enough to manage at Championship level so how he's in charge of one of the biggest teams in the country in the prem is beyond me.

Me too but hopefully he'll be gone at the end of the season back under what ever rock he crawled out from.

Would his managerial skills pass muster at Hyde ?

You're not the only one who's noticing it.
