Tell me this Gary, is the local Labour Party still full of Celtic supporters?

How come there was never any Rangers directors who were Labour MPs?
Not particularly interested in soccer but it seems pretty noticeable there's a connection between Celtic FC and the local Labour Party.
Since you've stated on here your a paid up Labour Party member you could tell us what's going on.

This evening Dougie Freedman has replaced Stuart Pearce as gaffer at Forest with immediate effect.
Pearce's reign lasted seven months with a record of P32 W10 D10 L12.
In my opinion, while he's a club legend and always will be, he wasn't able to motivate or galvanise the players to get results. The players are responsible to the extent in that they don't give 100%, but at the end of the day the gaffer's accountable for them.

I wouldn't know as I support Rangers, and I don't think it's illegal for Politicians to be members of a football team, they aren't doing anything wrong if they are loyal supporters of the club...
Fair play to you Gary, i'd never have guessed you were a Rangers supporter after your posts on the referendum, says me jokingly.
Just curious about the Celtic/Labour Party link considering a group of Rangers fans pointed out to the European Commission a link between the labour run Glasgow City Council/Celtic FC and the Co-op bank regarding land being used for security on loans.
Seemed a big story about a year back.
Think the European Commission threw it out.
Sure it must leave a lot of suspicion in Rangers fans minds regarding the Labour Party.
Stange case although not as strange as Rangers having two directors called Green and White.
You really couldn't make that one up.

This is what I find genuinely exasperating about the Old Firm, supporters on both sides determined to see injustice and discrimination wherever they can.
I guess, like much else, it comes down to sectarianism. The Loyalist side of the fence have generally sided with the Conservative Party- the UUP kept the last Conservative government afloat, something which might be repeated with the DUP later this year- and so you'd naturally expect Rangers supporters and dignitaries to err more towards the Conservatives (and therefore away from Labour).
You saw similar on the green side of town with plenty of insinuations about the likes of Neil Doncaster and Hugh Dallas.

I don't know how healthy it is for football clubs to have such overt political connections to Labour or the Conservatives especially in a small country like Scotland.
Same goes for the local media.
Although much of it is full of contradictions, like Celtic FC's major shareholder being a Tory party backer.
And it would safe to say most Rangers fans do in fact vote Labour since the Tories haven't had an MP in Glasgow elected at a general election since 1979.

It's the same everywhere.
Look at West Ham. They've been given a £600m stadium for nowt by a Conservative Mayor. Their CEO, Karren Brady, just happens to be a Conservative peer. Nothing to see here, move along now.

It looks like West Ham United will be allowed to stay in the FA Cup, despite being fined the equivalent of £71,000 by FIFA over the situation of Diafra Sakho and the matter of the breaking of FIFA rules concerning availability for the African Cup of Nations and a concurrent embargo on his appearances in Britain during the period of the African Cup of Nations.

West Ham United getting away scot-free with fielding an ineligible player? Gosh, that's never happened before.
We were kicked out of the Cup when we played an ineligible player (though we were reinstated with a replay on appeal). It's good to know that FIFA and the FA have been just as tough on West Ham United.
The fine was £70,000. The prize money for winning their 4th round game was £90,000. They're getting £245,000 as their 5th round game is on the telly. A profit of £265,000 will really teach them not to cheat next time!

The Olympic Park conveniently happens to be around 700 yards or so from Brisbane Road - the home of Leyton Orient, who are older than West Ham.
When West Ham were founded in 1905, they did not have their own kit for their first match against Aston Villa. The Villa gave them their spare kit, and West Ham copied the claret and blue style for their home kit.
Oh well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but no matter how its dressed up as or what copy kit West Ham have, out of the claret and blue teams in England, only Aston Villa have reached the final of the European Cup and have gone on to win it too (back in 1982).

The "rise and fall" experienced by Yeovil Town in recent years has seen the sacking of their manager. His son currently manages Oldham Athletic who are in the same league.
I note this as Yeovil Town appear to mirror such promotions and relegations experienced by my team Hyde in the same period of time.

I welcome Balne-wonderer's comments on the recent derby game. My verdict on the game was that it was easy to see why neither side has taken the Championship by storm this season. Both sides have personnel that should be higher, really... But also several 'journeymen'. Around the 70 minute mark, Redfearn went for it while Powell showed a lack of ambition that's becoming worryingly thematic this season. Aiming for a point you're always going to risk getting nothing. On a positive note, both sets of supporters did a decent job of keeping their more moronic elements in check...
Speaking of Hyde, I see they've loaned our young academy 'keeper, Ed Wilcynski, on loan.
I imagine he'll certainly get plenty of practice there!

In a strange way I think that bad injury took out any nasty feeling there was in the atmosphere because everyone was shocked at what had gone on.
We are not a quality team, we have a couple of players like Byram and Murphy that have a bit about them but there isnt much else.
Bunn looked like a good player for Huddersfield, surprised he was only on the bench to start with.

Harry Bunn was on fire earlier in the season, just after Bobbins walked. In recent weeks he's be blowing hot and cold, and particularly seems to go missing in the second half. Powell had him on the bench to allow Vaughan to partner Wells up front, though obviously Wells got taken out early on. At times this season (Forest and Watford at home, Wolves and Reading away) we've looked like we're not that far off challenging at the right end of the table, but I do fear that Powell lacks the optimism to really go for the win in the last 30mins.
As for fans leaving early, that happens every week because to some people paying £25 for a ticket isn't worth getting stuck in a bit of a traffic jam for... Or even worse, they might have to spend 50 minutes in the Head of Steam... Perish the thought! I for one will NEVER leave a game early, even on the regular occasions when the performance would justify it!
