A not unsurprising result of the fiasco that occurred at Oldham Athletic is that the owner/chairman is now prepared to consider any reasonably-made sensible offer for the club. He has had 12 years involvement there.

Rather a nail-biting penalty shoot-out at the end of the West Ham United v Everton FA CUP replay game.....9-8 to West Ham, so my wife tells me.

Thoroughly entertaining game, two equally matched sides. As one of the pundits picked up, I particularly liked the gesture of the Hammers keeper taking his gloves off before striking the winning penalty, as if to say "I won't need these any more".

Credit to the Everton supporters who made the trip too, made for a great atmosphere and restored faith in the FA Cup, for a little while at least.

To be fair though Bony is proven at Premier League level, which is more than can be said for the likes of Moses, Sinclair and even Rodwell. Negrado isn't likely to come back, Jovetic can't go a month without getting injured and on account of the Dzeko's poor work rate I'd say Bony is probably preferable to him, so it's not like he's going to languish in the reserves. City play two up front I think, so I would expect Bony to be on at least 20-30 games a season, probably more if Aguero's injury rate persists.

I was making a tongue in cheek comment referencing YuGiOh The Abridged Series which had the phrase "screw the rules, I have money" as a running gag because Seto Kaiba got away with a lot of stuff (like kidnap, hospitalising and summoning three monsters in one turn and that's just the first episode) because he was rich.

No real rules broken of course.

No, I do agree with you in this case that Bony has clearly been brought in to play a key role.

The Swansea player conveyor belt continues - them and Southampton have to be models of how a good scouting system can mean that selling your best players can lead to you replacing them with even better ones at a fraction of the cost.

Unfortunately highlights are only on the BBC website, and as my building's WiFi is on the blink I can't watch them!

Good to see Bradford doing well, especially as they seem to be getting the best out of Jon Stead, who scored their second goal. It would have been great if his return to Huddersfield had been as successful as Andy Booth's, but it didn't work out, sadly.

I have tipped the Bantams for promotion though. Would be good to have all three of West Yorkshire league sides in the same division, and that would be my preferred method of achieving that!

Only slight problem we have at the minute is that we have Hanson and Stead both winning the flick-on, but nobody running on past to stick the ball in the net. Hopefully Clarke's imminent return will help with that.

I have no real desire to watch us get humped 5-0 by Mourinho, especially as it involves giving money to the Chavs to do it. Plus I ticked off Stamford Bridge when we were in the Premier League, and it is a very grim place to go as an away fan.

PS It costs Chelsea a little bit of money to host an FA Cup game in the earlier rounds, as they have to give 10% of the gate reciepts to the FA and 45% to the away team, unlike league games, where they keep the lot ....

It wasn't scary- though it always helps to be the "plucky underdog"- but it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. The away section down in the bowels of the East Stand was absolutely awful, could see diddly squat.

The latest news in Ashley involvement saga at Rangers is that he is now said to require the security of both the Ibrox stadium and the training ground at Murray Road for a loan of £10 million.

Because the gate receipts are shared in the FA cup the two clubs have to come to an agreement on ticket prices, so Chelsea can't just charge whatever they want.

All went a bit pear shaped last night.
Local radio keep telling everybody the game is on even though Glasgow is in the middle of a snow storm.
Game is called off after 25 minutes.
Between that and a protest outside the stadium not a great night all round for the fans.

Oldham won for first time since Nov 29th as they beat Fleetwood 2-0, is only our third away win of season and also good win that as we could only name six players on sub bench as we been hit by injured and two of sub were youth team players.

If we can beat Rochdale in local derby match on tues night then we will move into top 6 but Rochdale away record is one of best in League One so expect tough game against Dale on Tuesday night.

Good wins for Liverpool and Man Utd today and see Liverpool are now only four points off at Champion League place but Southampton could change that if they beat Newcastle in game that is taking place now.
