For all the discussion about the 'poor' defence, let's just remember who it was made up of for most of the game: Shaw (inexperienced), Carrick (out of position and just back from injury), Rojo (new signing, not really convinced on him personally but there you go), and Valencia (out of position and just back from injury).
And of course, when Rojo goes off, we have McNair on, who has looked decent but has only played 3 times for us.
That "poor" back 4 today was actually not that bad, and their goal was not down any defensive mistakes whatsoever. Get a back 4 made of fit defenders with over 40 games for the club and it actually doesn't look so 'poor' at all. I think that we actually showed resilience to keep it at 1, the floodgates could have opened at that point (and should have if our defence is that 'poor' as many would have us believe)
City should have had 2 first half penalties. Smalling was an idiot for the first card, said it to my mate at the time about how he's now got to deal with Aguero for the next 60 minutes on a yellow. He lasted about 10 before sending off. No further refereeing remarks from me because I'll only get shot down as if it's a one-way street etc.
