Boring match so far .... nearly 20 minutes in and it's still 0-0
Same at 120 minutes, before the penalty shoot-out settled matters.
If they had skipped straight to the penalties and held it a few hours earlier, it could have been held during the ad breaks of the Tour de France!

Well considering Suarez has now admitted what he did they really couldn't have done anything else. In fact due to his admission they should have increased the ban
Not sure. In many areas of law doesn't pleading guilty come with a lesser punishment.
At the end of the day he is an amazing player but not worth the effort to keep in check so I'm not asking for a greater or lesser punishment. Thanks for the memories and see you later from this red.

But he only pleaded guilty after the sentence had been handed down. During the inquiry he claimed innocence saying he had lost his balance. In effect he perjured himself.
Not sure about FIFA but the FA can increase the ban if it is felt the appeal was frivolous

I can't believe the Uruguayan FA are still saying that "there was not enough evidence". Don't know about anyone else but I'd say the video was quite conclusive...

It's not as if it is a backward step either. Would be interesting to see how he gets on in La Liga (when he is eventually allowed to play). I would suggest he is a big risk to Barcelona but judging how he played for Liverpool it might be a risk worth taking for them.
Liverpool are quids in either way although Lambert is no replacement so they may have to use some of the money to buy a quality replacement (and a defender and midfielder)

He seen to do well for Leeds since he leave us but I be surprise if he go to Millwall as Leeds is more biggest club then Millwall and seen to be in first 11 at Leeds then sitting on the bench.
talking about friendly matches I see Oldham won 8-1 last night but it were against non league team Curzon Ashton who play in Northern Premier League. (same division that Droylsden who only won two matches and got relegation from last season)

Liverpool getting £75 Million, quite a good deal, but shows that the Spanish big 2 can throw money around like anybody.
Real Madrid will probably purchase another player for that sort of money, otherwise the fans will be complaining that they will be left behind in the race to win trophies

Is there now not supposed to be some financial constraints upon those clubs playing in the two European club competitions ?
I think it is more to do with money must be made from football related activity and Barca make a fortune from it. It is to try and stop some oil Billionaire coming in and throwing money at say Chelsea or Man City. In a way it could seen as a way of trying to protect the old guard.
I may be completely wrong though.

It's not difficult to see how. Champions League revenue is such that nobody can break in through skill and financial prudence effectively creating a lock-in for those already there

That news will go down like the proverbial "lead balloon" at Old Trafford, now finding themselves outside the European "magic circle".
They'll be back, you watch. Ha ha. They still make a fortune through football related revenue. It will just be harder for anyone to do a Man City or a Chelsea.

Just ask Southampton. Have a good season with some good young players and you don't stand a chance. The big boys just come and take them away. And you are back to square one
Depends how you look at it with Southampton. They have taken good money for those players and already signed two direct replacements with plenty of money to spare.
It's when the big boys take them very early and pay a small development fee which is the problem, not when they pay £25m & £30m for the players as is the case here.

As others have said, I think he's better when you play him in midfield, as Benitez and to a lesser extent Mourinho did at Chelsea...

We have all seen the incident at the World Cup (even none football fans have had to watch it in the news) but now he has just been made the 3rd most expensive footballer in history to date..... So was the bite more deliberate than perhaps thought, was he handing Liverpool an no ultimatum, he has caused so much controversy and Liverpool have defended him so many times, that perhaps he knew at a global event there is no way he wouldn't be caught and no way Liverpool could stand by him again
After all, taking a bite out of someone, getting 4 months off, a transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona, no doubt a chuck of money from the move and lucrative short sponsor deals...... Almost too good to turn down the opportunity perhaps?
