I've never been the biggest fan of Middlesbrough but it would be good for [nearly] everyone if this season's frequent cup upsets were to continue at the Riverside.

You guys can say the League has been rather uninteresting this season all you want (even though it started pretty well, especially with West Brom), but a lot of the cup action has made up for it, as epitomised by the efforts of Luton and Bradford. I am sure that every genuine neutral would have wanted a Swansea-Bradford final for the League Cup as soon as the semi-finalistswere known, even before the draw - and next Sunday, it will be a reality.

In other news, Simon Grayson is the new kid in town at Preston North End. Confirmed as boss this afternoon.

I bet the BBC are pleased with that, every time his side is shown on the football league show they have to put his interview in, same with Warnock. I dont mind them putting interviews in to help get a managers view of the game, but the same managers every single week gets tedious.

Well my prediction for the order was 50% correct, both Manchester clubs matches was correct in timing (there abouts) but Millwall's and Oldham/Everton swap around. The full order is:

I'm hoping that Oldham can get four points out of next two matches starting tonight against Stevenage, a win tonight against stevenage will move Oldham out of bottom 4 and sent Colchester to 21st in table but I take draw tonight and win on Saturday against Portsmouth.

Also Oldham match against Everton in FA Cup replay will be show live on ITV1 next Tuesday (26th February) with kick off at 19:45pm, due to this match Oldham match against Preston have been call off and now will be played on Tues 9th April at Deepdale.

Pretty big news coming from Fifa today:

Goal-line technology gets 2014 World Cup go-ahead

Fifa has confirmed goal-line technology will be used at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The system was successfully trialled at the Club World Cup in December, and is being used for this summer's Confederations Cup.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter had previously stated his commitment to bringing in goal-line technology for the tournament in Brazil.
Fifa has invited tenders to provide the system.

Blatter has pushed for goal-line technology ever since he watched Frank Lampard denied a legitimate goal in England's defeat by Germany in the 2010 World Cup.

He subsequently said "sorry" for the mistake caused by Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda failing to spot the midfielder's shot had bounced over the line.
Blatter also insisted video technology was a "necessity" after a controversial incident in England's 1-0 win over Euro 2012 opponents Ukraine helped eliminate the co-hosts. Ukraine forward Marko Devic's shot crossed England's goal-line but a goal was not awarded.

Both Goalref and Hawkeye were used at the Club World Cup and have Fifa approval.

Goalref works by using magnetic sensors to determine whether the ball crossed the line, while Hawkeye uses a number of cameras.

Two German firms are also likely to bid, with the tender expected to be awarded by early April.

A Fifa statement said: "After a successful implementation of Goal-Line Technology (GLT) at the Club World Cup in Japan in December 2012, Fifa has decided to use GLT at the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The aim is to use GLT in order to support the match officials and to install a system in all stadia, pending the successful installation, and pre-match referee tests."

I did honestly hope football would never have to come to such measures but with the speed of the modern game and various other external factors I think it has become an undeniable necessity.

It's less the speed of the game (how often is the ref delayed dealing with a crowd of players?) than the fiscal need to get it right. The premier league gives you (I think) a few hundred thousand quid extra for each space up the table you finish. Add in relegation/promotion/cup run money and it's very important that decisions are correct.

I don't think there is much evidence for this but the number of questionable decisions a team gets in their favour seems to be directly proportional to their league position.

Alternatively let's blame Blatter for unsubstantiated reason number 764

I agree and it keeps many people in a job but I would like to see the goal line stuff be brought in.

I mean, a goal is a goal if it's crossed the line. Offsides decisions leading to goal are part of a chain of events but the ball crossing the line should always be a goal.

If I was a Wolves or Huddersfailed fan at the moment i'd be very worried. If Leeds lose tonight I honestly believe we aren't out of a potential relagation battle yet but at the moment it's not panic stations.

We beat Wolves at home and drew away, in both games they didn't look like a bad team, we've certainly played a lot worse teams this season but perhaps that's the championship all over. Cardiff came to Elland Road the other week and fluked a 1-0 win, they looked awful. It is not a league full of quality and because of that the teams at the bottom still have a chance to go on a good run of games and drag themselves away from the relagation.

Spot on, I can walk to home games, though the Croxley rail link to the Metropolitan line will make things easier if it happens!

We should have been bankrupt 2 years back, but got VERY lucky that we scraped through and then got discovered by the Pozzo family. Very very lucky. We could easily have been where Luton are now.

As for Troy Deeney, well the opinions of fans were divided when he came out of prison, but it would appear the lad has had the shock he needed and is now becoming a model pro and according to forums is doing a lot of work behind the scenes with the younger players and academy. I think he needed prison to sort him out.

Having seen all of the teams pushing for promotion this season, I really think Cardiff will be caught by ourselves and Hull. The question I ask myself frequently is can the Premiership be better than the lower leagues? For money of course, but everything else about it I really don't like.

Why not for penalties or some offside decisions? The former is more likely than not to lead to a goal after all.

Very good win for Oldham last night, I hear it was game of two half as Stevenage was better team in First half but we were stronger in Second half and got two goals in 15 mins of restart to help us win the match.

I might be missing something here; but can't the technology give an answer immediately? If the ref hasn't flagged up for offside etc, then as soon as the ball crosses the line the ref should be informed and the goal given.

Thus you only stop play if there is a goal.
