On a more serious note, with transfer window only a month away, what will be the biggest moves planned (if any yet besides Beckham's saga) and what moves do you expect/hope for?

After defeating Stirling Albion 1-0 in the third round on the Scottish Cup, this weekends fourth round ties will see Deveronvale play Raith Rovers, who should prove to be far sterner opposition. Turriff United also have a tough game against Greenock Morton........Still, it is good to see the Highland League have two teams playing in the fourth round.

But at Upton Park, what a turn-round in fortunes, as West Ham United, with two late goals, beat Chelsea 3-1.

I thought this looked to be a very difficult home game for Hyde, as Woking are not all that bad a team and last Saturday, Woking had beaten Farnborough by the same score, 7-0, in the FA Trophy match.

Bad result for Arsenal but they will still finish above Abertawe by the end of the season - they blew out and ran out of gas last year.

but they've bulked up the squad and have more depth this season. Laudrup managed to get some excellent buys from his knowledge of the bottom half of La Liga.

If this doesn't tell "Fergie" the need is for central defenders of the highest international quality, whatever the cost and that money can buy in the winter transfer window, considering the injury records and the number of matches missed since the start of the previous season by both Vidic and Ferdinand, then this current state of affairs will continue.

How many matches in the league this season have they been seen to go a goal behind ?

Latics won today against Doncaster 3-1 mean they are in hat for third round ties and I'm hoping they get Manchester club, Arsenal or Chelsea speical away to any of them but, I be happy if they got drawn against Barrow or Macclesfield as it give Oldham more chance of reaching four round ties and more money for Latics.

Also I'm right of thinking Manchester United have now gone behide 14 times this season let only losts what four times and still top of Premiership.

All relatively recent then. As you've pointed out, Reading on the receiving end twice. Good on Le Fondre scoring in the prem (again?), remember seeing him for Rotherham (I think) at Edgar street 4 or 5 years back, when he was banging them in for fun at that level.

Just read Laudrups press conference. He said his pre match team talk to his players before the Arsenal were that nobody expects them to win at Emirates and to just enjoy themselves. Seemed to work well today.
Also note many of the players when interviewed sing his praise very highly and sound genuine.

Some sad news coming through today of the death of Mitchell Cole, who scored the first competitive goal at the New Wembley (with Stevenage I recall). He spend a good few years at Southend and Stevenage, but in later years appeared somewhat of a non-league journeyman. He retired earlier this year whilst at Arlesey Town, amid concerns about a heart condition. He passed away earlier this morning. RIP.

footballer forced to retire from the professional game because of a heart condition has died aged 27, the Football League said.

Mitchell Cole, who played for Oxford United and Stevenage, gave up the game for good after seeing Bolton player Fabrice Muamba's on-pitch collapse.

Hundreds of fans have posted messages on Twitter in response to the news.

The Football League also used the social networking site to pay tribute to the player.

"We are sad to hear former Southend, Stevenage and Oxford player Mitchell Cole has passed away," it said in a tweet.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

Non-league appearances

The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) joined the Football League in expressing their condolences.

"The PFA is deeply saddened by the loss of 27-year-old Mitchell Cole, our thoughts are with his friends and family," it posted on Twitter.

Despite retiring from the professional game last year, Cole did make a handful of non-league appearances, including for Arlesey Town.

However, according to their director of football, Gary King, watching Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba suffer a cardiac arrest on the pitch in an FA Cup tie with Tottenham in March convinced Cole to give up the game for good.

Mr King told Press Association Sport that after Cole watched the game in the clubhouse: "he turned to me and said 'I'm not playing again.'"

Having just seen it on MOTD, it was a good foot over indeed. I guess it was the speed which was why it wasn't given, but it was a goal, no doubt about that.

Whilst not a Premiership (but an old First Division) match, I remember being a youth of 13 years of age in 1958, when Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton 10-4 and wishing that I could have attended that match when I heard the score.
