Indeed, it's one of my pet peeves. Same goes for City and, to a lesser degree, Town. It's a sign of arrogance IMO.

Out of all managers I recall of Liverpool, I think Benitez is the only one with a good win rate against United (and Chelsea come to think about it)

The day Rafa came out with that statement he lost 90% of his credibility in my mind. Forget any bias I may have given the club I support were on the receiving end of the statement, it was a ridiculous thing to say. Having said that though, he is a good manager and is probably the best thing to happen to Liverpool - with the possible exception of Stevie G - in the Premiership era, and I hope he defies the odds with Chelsea. (Especially if it means losing in the Champions' League Final, however unlikely given their current struggle!)

Well, the FA have today announced that Clattenburg has been cleared of this allegation after a long period of inquiry.

In fact, they have charged the Chelsea player with misconduct for his part in the affair.

One word: Deserved.

Or is my saying that it is "deserved" considered racist in the eyes of His Stupidness Lord Herbert?

West Brom are 2 points behind City and 1 behind Man Utd, and 2 points above Chelsea, West Brom having played 1 game more.
Liverpool have got to be kicking themselves for not offering Steve Clarke the top job when they got rid of Dalglish. Clarke resigned from his assistant position because Liverpool would not even consider him for the top job.

Albion are certainly doing well it's like a flashback to the "Ron Atkinson Days" in the late seventies / early eighties.

With regard to Steve Clarke if he'd got the job it would have been a "Matteo Job" and he would have suffered the same fate.

There was a Phil McNulty blog yesterday about West Brom. First one I've seen not about Chelsea/ Liverpool/ Manchester teams. Not even seen an Arsenal one in a while.

On Saturday, Oldham Athletic have a "must win" game against Shrewsbury as we got Doncaster (A), Colchester (A) and Swindon (H) in following three matches, so we need to beat Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Well, Oldham Athletic beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 today, so that is one problem solved.

0-0 was not a bad result although we certainly had the chances to get three points. It's good to see the work ethic in the team although we need to have a contingency about Benteke leaving in January. Can't see anyone wanting Bent without match experience but you never know.

We need an experienced defender IMO, someone to steady the back and protect the keeper. Tuesday's game against Reading is proving to be very important given we go to QPR under new management soon.

I suppose the biggest question of this weekend is why Manchester United have erected a statue of what appears to be Des O'Connor outside their ground.

The mighty Leeds United roared back to life this weekend, destroying the then championship leaders Crystal Palace 2-1 at Elland Road. England big shot Wilson Zaha never got a look in as young defender Sam Byrom never gave him any time on the ball. New signings Jerome Thomas and Alan Tate were both superb and brilliantly taken goals by Luciano Becchio and Paul Green gave Leeds the win. Palace got a consolation late on through Peter Ramage but Leeds were away and clear.

I did hear that Jerome Thomas blows hot and cold so need to give him more than one game to form an opinion about him.

There's a statue of Sir Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters, Ray Wilson and Bobby Moore at the bottom of Green Street opposite the Boleyn pub. Three of them are still alive.
