Here is one for our esteemed members of the "RailforumsUK Conspiracy Theory Club"....

Have Manchester United established a reciprocal arrangement with UEFA and their nominated referees who officiate in Champions League matches as what I read in postings that this club are said to have with the FA and referees in the English Premier League.

I ask this as I note that a penalty was awarded to them in the match last night when the score was only 2-1 to them at the time.

I think it was 1-1 when the penalty was awarded. Looked a bit dubious to me, it must really annoy Man City to see those type of decisions after they got nothing on Tuesday night.

Could be an interesting game on Saturday, I'm working down in Wednesbury, W Midlands currently and loads of lads here are Villa fans and they are playing Man Utd live on ESPN. I've told them after the Leeds game i'll rush home and change into a Villa shirt that they've let me borrow and for 90 minutes i'll be a Villan.

Super mighty brilliant Leeds are playing Watford on saturday, one of our many bogey teams. I expect another lacklustre performance with a dissaspointing but predictable result. Bates out!

Anyway, moving away from the Premiership for a few minutes, it's been a good few days in the West Midkands. Firstly, Walsall (featuring ex Scunthorpe defender Andy Butler) trounced 4-1 midweek, and Coventry (with former Scunthorpe keeper Joe Murphy) beaten 2-1 today.

Oh, apologies to our resident BSP correspondant. Hyde lost 3-2 this afternoon with Scunthorpe United's Matt Godden scoring the winner on his debut for Ebbsfleet United.

Indeed, it was very annoying to see Hyde throw away an early 2-0 lead in such an away match, considering they had beaten three better teams in recent consecutive Conference Premiership league wins.

Match of the day showed him hurling abuse at the linesman when it was 0-0 as well. Linesman had made correct decision, villa player was matter of a length of the united man's foot on side. The blokes an.absolute disgrace

Do I take it that we will be receiving as many "in-depth and considered comments" from our esteemed "conspiracy theory" experts about the validity of the award of the penalty to Arsenal deep into the final minutes of extended injury time and considered discussions as to how Arsenal have "svengali-like" influences of linesmen and referees.....as would have been the case if Manchester United had been awarded this penalty.... when it was such an important time in the match when Fulham would have had hardly any time left to equalise.

But you haven't come up with the usual "conspiracy theory" to explain matters, to cheer us all up. How about the sending-off for example...I am sure that you can explain this one to us who are not as well versed into the understanding of such refereeing decisions.

We had our chances too. You talk about a conspiracy theory against Manchester United but the pro-Manchester United bias is well in force as you'd have known if you'd watched Match of the Day - the way they showed virtually nothing of us after going 2-0 up is farcical at best and sinister as worst - if one had listened to the game one would have know that wasn't true and we gave a good account of ourselves until the 95th minute.

Manchester United are not alone in this of course; television bias extends to Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea especially

edit: You could say that there is an inherent bias because more games are shown involving said clubs on TV.

I did indeed watch MOTD this morning and ask you if you would you agree that taking off the former Aston Villa player (and all-round "waste of space"), Ashley Young, putting Rooney more into a position below the front line and bringing on Hernandez definitely saw the match change directional emphasis in the second half. Don't forget that I have no love for anything to do with Manchester United, as I have often said many times before. I feel that Ashley Young was the worst signing that Ferguson has ever made since he signed Ralph Milne from Bristol City in 1988...for those of you old enough to have watched that player and nearly died laughing at his total lack of football skills.

I do think that the younger Aston Villa players all rose manfully to the occasion, which brought to mind the comment made many years ago by Alan Hanson when at Villa Park, Aston Villa easily defeated Manchester United and Hanson made the famous saying..."You'll win nothing with kids".

Yes, I'd agree with that but it doesn't alter the fact that MOTD showed us rolling over after scoring the second goal when it wasn't the case in the actual game.

Take it from me as a United fan, he's not. I remember the likes of Dong Fangzhou, Bebe, Zoran Tosic.... Young was pretty rubbish yesterday, Scholes looked well below par too. But United's worst signing since 1988? No way.

You guys gave a good account of yourselves don't get me wrong, and you looked good value for your lead, but after the second goal it was probably only ever likely to go one way. How many chances did you have after the second goal? (I can't remember if De Gea's close save was before or after 2-2)

I realise that I did not make a posting yesterday about Oldham Athletic, who were out-thought, out-played and out-everything else at Boundary Park by a very well-organised and skillful Tranmere Rovers side and were very fortunate indeed to only lose 0-1. Ronnie Moore has done very well as the Tranmere Rovers manager and must be attracting the interest of some higher level clubs

Incidentally, it appears that Tranmere Rovers could be losing their local authority shirt sponsorship as part of the cutbacks of local authority finance.

My team lost the first three games of the season and were lying second from the bottom of the Championship league... (Methinks ..another season of struggling against relegation!).

Team then goes on a incredible run of 13 games unbeaten and now sitting clear top of the table.

As a South Londoner it has to be CRYSTAL PALACE...

I got home in time to watch the second half, it was interesting and I think I burst a blood vessel but all was well at the end. I must admit when he played an extra minute of stoppage time and the ball was in our half I did think "oh bloody hell here we go" - that's a true City fan, a complete cynic but then again it's in our nature
