God only knows - we dont own any of it and the council have a 75% development uplift restricitve covenant so they hold the whip hand

I guess a deal will be done in due course and something built there. Ideally i would like the council to take some of the money and build a new community stadium facility for us, the rugby club, the cricket club and anyone else who wants in!

Of course in the real world...............

Straying off the Darlington thread, I see that Liverpool suffered £50 million in losses extra to the debts that the new owners had to meet, of which a very large percentage of that figure was costs incurred in the Stanley Park project submissions and for work for those preparations.

I really hope Sheff Wed seal promotion this weekend, I can't wait for a trip to Hillsborough. They always give us a 'friendly' reception but I always get the feeling that there is a genuine rivalry with Wednesday, I don't have that feeling about any of the other Yorkshire clubs. And Wednesday are a massive club with great support, a nice stadium and proper fans.

How did Darlington get out of admin without a CVA? Leeds did that and got a 15 point penalty (a FL ploy to get us relagated again, didn't work though did it!) Be interesting to see what penalty Darlo get...

Still, never mind, last weeks results made the outcome of todays results a little less worrying. It is better to be in the second rather the third position, when there is only the final match to play.

I will be off in 20 minutes to place my first bet for ages. I will be doing a treble on the games at Accrington and Hereford to be draws and the game at Southend to be a home win. I honestly think this will happen! I'm not being biased at all (if I was I would tip Accrington to win )...

I guessed this game would be a good one but not that good. It leaves the way open for Newcastle / Tottenham to leapfrog Arsenal and to take it all down to the last game of the season. I never thought it possible before this game but Arsenal could finish 5th if results go against them.

One of the best finishes to a Premier League season for a while in my opinion.

Chelsea make offer to buy Battersea Power Station

Chelsea have made a bid to buy Battersea Power Station in south-west London and plan to redevelop it into a 60,000 capacity stadium.

The landmark's four chimneys would be kept as part of a design which includes a 15,000 seat single-tier south stand.

Chelsea said in March expanding their current home, Stamford Bridge, made no economic sense, while a new stadium on the site faced planning problems.

The club added they are not the only party interested in acquiring the site.

"There is no certainty we will be successful," read a club statement.

"We must also stress that making an offer for the Battersea Power Station site does not mean the club has made a definitive decision to leave Stamford Bridge."

The club say the plans, which would preserve the building's Grade Two listed turbine hall and control room, would provide "a unique architectural backdrop to a world-class stadium".

A development of shops, housing and offices, and a contribution to the extension of the Northern Line underground service into the area, are part of the offer.

I don't really know what to say to this. It would certainly make the Northern extension more viable, which can only be good, but converting the power station into a football stadium just doesn't seem right to me. Obviously I would appreciate something being done there, but this...?

It would be odd considering they would be playing on the opposite side of the Thames to Chelsea itself as well.

Was this the rather excellent save he made? When it comes down to it I always ask myself, would people be disgusted if it was an England player who did that and the answer is always no so it gets discarded as double standards
