Nice touch from Gary Cahill btw, shows that whilst players may be at loggerheads and eachothers worst enemy during matches, that they are united in support when something terrible like yesterday happens, just like the fans are.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority but I think it's annoying that Gary Cahill is being lauded for raising his shirt after scoring to show the "Pray 4 Muamba" slogan on his t-shirt instead of being booked. On one hand people complain that referees aren't consistent and on the other they book players for raising their shirts, but not if it's pulling on heart strings.

I read a while back that taking off a shirt and raising it to show a message became a bookable offence after pressure from the sponsors who pay for their names to go on shirts. After scoring all the cameras are on the players and it's great exposure for their name so are rightly annoyed when they get "Why always me?" instead.

I completely understand where you're coming from, and I think you're right for 99.9% of cases, but I think it is only fair that this sort of rule is waived in such exceptional cirucmstances

But that's just the thing. If it's "law" then it's either 100% or nothing, no 0.1%!

Bookings and getting players booked are a tactical part of the game so there should be no margin.

HT Liverpool 1 Stoke 1 in the FA cup, and the referee is displaying some of the worst refereeing i've seen in a long time, not helped by a very poor linesman. 2 big corner decisions awarded the wrong way by the linesman, Stokes goal involved a player bodychecking Pepe Reina whilst crouch headed into an empty net.

I don't care if people choose to pray privately but I do object to the implication that I don't give a crap if I don't pray.

As for a bookable offence I suppose that depends on whether the refs are allowed to show discretion or whether to consistently and fairly apply the rules - the two are mutually exclusive

My view is that the ref should book him as per the rules, then the FA can decide to waive the yellow card afterwards, if they feel compassionate.

Stoke are committing a fair few fouls now but that's hardly surprising since tackling has been outlawed nowadays. Admittedly some have been fouls but it's like they want to outlaw tackling.

Much rather Stoke got an equaliser, they're a team that are not afraid to tackle and consequently have a poor disciplinary record and I hate seeing teams playing it in the corner although it's understandable.

Sounds all too familiar. First goal they scored last season, Walters blocked Upson, allowing Huth a free header, and for the second, Carlton Cole was penalised, basically for *not* jumping for the ball, and from the free kick, Huth literally put an arm around Hitzlsperger's waist, pulled him out of the wall and left a massive hole for Higginbotham to shoot.
But that was Michael Jones, the most inept referr I have ever seen.

Swindon are slipping in the League Two title race - Southend might yet pull it off!

Elsewhere, a division further down, amazingly Bath City are one win from climbing off the bottom after suddenly finding form Meanwhile, Mansfield were on fire this weekend, putting seven past an increasingly weak Barrow. They are safe this year - but the signs are that next season will be much tougher for them. And in the Conference South, Chelmsford City's first game with an appropriate name saw them defeated at promotion rivals Sutton United.

But, as ever, the division to watch is the Championship. Southampton (72) lead Reading (70) and West Ham (67 with a game in hand) in the race for the Premiership - but the tension is simmering beneath them as Birmingham, Blackpool, Middlesbrough, Hull, Cardiff and Brighton in positions 4 through 9 are separated by just one point!

Oh, and on a personal note, my brother is buying me an Everton away shirt (they were reduced as part of Moyes' 10th anniversary week). But he then went and bought himself one even though he is a Man U fan! Having said that though, he already has a Wigan one hock:

celtic moving to england again, it's been a while since this was last mentioned but now talking about parachuting into league 1.
i know greg clarke has since rubbished the reports but he's hardly likely to come out and say it's true.

personally i think it would be fantastic, but i think most english clubs would be terrified because it would only be a matter of time until they were surpassed by the mighty 'tic.

Personally if Celtic do come into the English league then they should start in step 5, around 8 divisions BELOW the premier league, as all new/reformed clubs have to do, why should they be allowed to start in League 1?? If they do start in League 1 I wouldn't be surprised if Chester, AFC Wimbledon, Guernsey etc appeal against it as they all had to start in the lower reaches of non league football

And before anyone says its because I support a 'big' team, I support Wycombe Wanderers (currently in league 1) and I would not like to see Celtic being placed in League 1 as it would mean completly restructing the football league)

I know that some people will go to any depths to offend, but it appears that a 21 year old student from Pontypridd at Swansea University has, this morning, appeared at Swansea Magistrates Court after admitting posting racially offensive messages on Twitter about Patrice Muamba. It is said that police forces all over that area received complaints and he was arrested as a result of these complaints.
