Although i we kept our scoring rate fo first 15 minutes up, wed of won 18-0....

I am sure that a 3-0 home win against Bournemouth will still bring you three points in the race at the top of Division 1.

Incidentally, how did Charlton manage to lose 2-4 at home to Notts County ?

I am still being proved right by the inability of Oldham Athletic to bring their good away form back to Boundary Park. How can a side that can go and beat Sheffield United 3-2 away last weekend and move up three places as a result, with then having two home matches to follow with a chance of moving into the top half of the table (Scunthorpe United in midweek and Yeovil Town yesterday)....conspire to lose both of these two home matches by the same 1-2 scoreline ?

Conference North news......

The match between top placed Hyde FC and fourth placed FC Halifax Town ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw. However, the matches with the other top teams did not help either of them as second placed Nuneaton Town lost 1-3 away to Gainsborough Trinity and third placed Guiseley AFC lost 1-2 away to Gloucester City.

These results leave Hyde FC 11 points clear at the top, with only nine matches still to play.

Wigan drew to Norwich, which I guess isn't too bad... Wolves aren't the bottom of the league yet. United, Norwich, Bolton, Stoke for us next.

The official Football Conference website shows the score as 1-3 with Armson scoring the only Nuneaton goal in the 82nd minute.

I can definitely see Altrincham failing to reach the Conf North playoffs. In spite of having the top scorer in their league (Damian Reeves, with 36), and indeed the joint highest goals scored (72, same as Hyde, the leaders), we have a lot of problems with winning matches. This is caused by the leaky defence that we have from the large turnover of players - always looking for the cheapest option it seems

Ahh, they got it right, one of our fans rang me last night to confirm who'd scored because he read it in the NLP as Jack Harris for the first goal. Oddly we scored the winner in the 89th minute and had to endure 25 minutes injury time!

It certainly is a sorry state of affairs if the official Football Conference web site, that covers their Premiership, North and South leagues, allow mistakes such as this to occur.

TBPH though, if this is the only mistake they make in all of the thousands of results that they publish every year, I don't think it is that big an issue: mistakes happen, all it takes is for someone to type it wrong.

It would be a sad state of affairs if Stockport County, having "plummeted" from the Championship, League 1, League 2 to the Conference Premiership in very quick succession, find themselves in a "local derby" situation with Altrincham in Conference North next season.

Some breaking news ....

It appears that the Preston players have got fed up with their contracts stating "Under no circumstances are you to have an attempt at scoring a goal". Reports of a mass tearing up of said contracts appear to be confirmed by rumours appearing on Twitter that Preston NE actually took the lead for a couple of minutes in their match against Tranmere Rovers this evening.

- Who very nearly over recent years could have become the largest city in Europe with no professional football team? (I have mentioned this on here in the past.)

Indeed. I felt posting to that effect would have been meaningless. I always had Wakefield down for this, and it is if you look at the administrative area, but not the city (yes, it is a city!) itself.
