England have beaten Senegal 3-0 after a rather nervous opening 30 minutes of the match. England next play France & Kylian Mbappe next Saturday after France beat Poland 3-1.

Excellent performance, hopefully the next game will not be the end of the road !!

Bellingham is our best midfielder imo. So composed on the ball.

Glad Foden had a good game. Never been massively convinced but he did well.

Who has been teaching Japan how to take a penalty? England??!!

Interesting how the commentators are happy to ridicule the Japanese penalty technique...yet were utterly silent when their old pals were doing the same for England.

I thought that was really harsh criticism. One of them was hard and low in the corner and just a really, really good save. The other two were the sort that look great if the goalie guesses wrong

Sooner credit the Croat goalie

Meanwhile in the Brazil game, a new low in the long history of incredibly soft penalty decisions

The best and worst of Brazil. What a half of football

Spain are out of the World Cup after losing 3-0 to Morocco on penalties after 0-0 draw.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped to the bench for Portugal’s game against Switzerland.

Spain got what the deserved for being horribly cautious. And chapeau to the last Moroccan penalty taker for having the bravery / arrogance (delete as applicable) to try a Panenka.

Brave by the Portugal manager too. If they don’t win he’ll get all manner of criticism. (Although I think they’re a better team without Ronaldo). Maybe it’s set for him to come off the bench and score the winner

Switzerland....what an awful team they tend to be in major tournaments.

This aged well

Earlier today I said Croatia would not reach the final. I am now doubting myself once more!

No need to doubt yourself they will come up against someone playing to their capabilities soon - or will they ?

Glad to see the back of Brazil. Very arrogant this time around with an entitled fan base.
