Completely agree. The sooner some number of fans are allowed in, the better. Especially up here as we have none at any level. That may change next week though actually, as part of Tier 0 and Tier 1 is having a limited number of sports fans in stadia.

I’m finding the fake crowd noise acceptable. But yes, some games do have a pre-season feel.

Of course, most of all, I’d rather be there... ...still no news on Season Ticket refunds from LUFC either.

Sad times - I have a feeling they won’t be the only club that will do so.
More encouragingly though, from next week fans are allowed into stadia in the Tier 1 areas. This will be a massive financial relief to all the clubs in these areas. A good proportion of the Highland League clubs are in these areas, so it looks like they should be good for a season start on November 28 - with fans which is what they wanted.

The Championship is as unpredictable as ever... an unexpected 0-3 win at Millwall for Huddersfield when I couldn't see us getting anything before the game. The performance was excellent too, attacking with pace and flair.
Other than the first 15mins we never gave Millwall a look in and should really have been out of sight by the hour mark. However only Josh Koroma's first half opener separated the two sides until the 88th minute when Pipa's ferocious shot could only be parried by Bialkowski in the Lions' goal. The ball then spun up over the hapless 'keeper's head and crossed the line by about the width a cigarette paper before Bialkowski could claw it away. A well-deserved first Terriers goal for the Spanish U-21 summer signing, but without Hawkeye the goal almost certainly wouldn't have been given. Then with almost the last kick of the game Lewis O'Brien made it three, finishing a fast paced passing move started by Ben Hamer in the Huddersfield goal. A brilliant win, but after the quick turnaround at home to Preston North End last week I was pretty nervous for us defending a narrow lead at the start of the second half. Probably the best performance from the team since the win over Manchester United in 2017.

Elsewhere in the division Wycombe Wanderers got their first Championship win 1-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday, and Barnsley surprisingly beat Watford by the same scoreline in South Yorkshire.

In season 1990/91, Salford City finished bottom of the North West Counties League division one and Bradford (Park Avenue) finished third in the second division. Leyland DAF resigned so Atherton LR, who finished second from bottom were reprieved. Thus the league ended up with 17 clubs in D1 and 19 in D2 for 1991/92.

The clubs were not happy with this as, every week, one club in each division would have a blank Saturday. So an EGM was called. The league had to decide whether to (a) reprieve Salford or (b) promote Avenue or (c) do neither and leave the leagues unbalanced. Fortunately the league decided that Salford would be relegated as the rules said that "the bottom club shall be relegated". A year later Avenue finished second from bottom in NWCL-1 on goal difference, but were reprieved as Vauxhall GM resigned. The rest is history.

Bradford have been very lucky with reprieves over the years, no more so than this summer. I wonder if we'll get another one this season?
