so the demand is there for 87,000 Spurs fans is there? or is it that they can't afford to pay the staffing levels that huge attendances would require?
3,000 away fans in a 90,000 seater stadium is appalling, especially when likely 15 of those clubs will likely never play a competitive match there again in many of their supporters lifetimes

I guess its first come first served - and I guess Wrexham would be too expensive to hire. North Wales Crusaders RLFC have moved out of the Racecourse to a smaller ground in Wrexham.

TNS, an English side playing in the League of Wales start their Champions League campaign tonight at their own Park Hall ground near Oswestry. This is a strange ground with an artificial pitch. Only two sides are usually open. It's the only football ground where I have ever had to wear a wristband (to access the clubhouse nibbles before the match and at half time).

The away leg against College Europa of Gibraltar has been switched to Faro in Portugal, Spanish grounds being unsuitable for obvious political reasons.

Newcastle United didn't actually win a European cup final in 2006. They won the UEFA Intertoto Cup by progressing the farthest out of the 11 teams that qualified for the UEFA Cup via the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

Evidently good news and a great statement of intent from the new owner. Hopefully, this marks a long-awaited return to sensible stewardship and financial stability. Season ticket sales are also at a ten year high at 16,500+ too which is good news.

Leeds United are delighted to announce that Greenfield Investment Pte Ltd, an Aser Group company and parent company of Leeds United Football Club Limited, has completed the purchase of Elland Road Stadium.

The Old Peacock Ground has been our home since 1919 and today's announcement will see the stadium return to the club for the first time since it was sold in 2004, during a period of financial difficulty.

Speaking on this historical acquisition, Chairman Andrea Radrizzani said: “Today is an important day in our history and a proud day for me and my team.

“When I met with both management and supporters during my first few months at the club, the purchase of Elland Road was very high on their list of priorities and I'm delighted to be able to announce that we have completed that process today.”

Leader of Leeds City Council, Councillor Judith Blake also commented on the purchase of Elland Road, stating: “It is fantastic news that the club have confirmed the buy-back of Elland Road Stadium.

“This is an extremely positive step in the right direction for everyone associated with Leeds United and especially the club’s tremendous and loyal fans.

“As we prepare for the new season to begin in August, I very much welcome the intent being shown by Andrea to move the club forward with real purpose and ambition.”

Work to improve and update Elland Road has already begun and will be completed by the start of the season.

Yes, in partnership with Leeds City Council as far as I'm aware, although the new owner is looking at sites around the Elland Road area to move the training ground to according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Frank de Boer is the new trainer of Crystal Palace. We (in the Netherlands) must laugh about him not able to speak the english language good. What was maybe a reason for his downfall in Italy. Not able to speak italian, but please. Everyone can (normally) speak English in the Netherlands.

Now I have two questions:

1. Why didn't he move direct to Anderlecht?
2. What's the point in Everton signing a player and sending him out on loan straight away?

I understand that his wages will probably be paid by Anderlecht, but Everton have still spent £7m for a player who's not going to play for them!

The article I read said Ronald Koeman doesn't feel he is quite ready for the step up to the premier league, and is one for the future. A 5 year contract has been agreed. I guess Everton saw it to be a good investment for a year or two to sign him now.

Indeed when Spurs signed Dele Alli they loaned him back to Franchise immediately. Likewise Aaron Mooy was signed by Manchester City and immediately loaned out to Huddersfield. Not uncommon at all.

Quite a few actually, more than the average.

In and around the first team squad are Joel Ward, James Tomkins, Scott Dann, Andros Townsend, Conor Wickham, Jordan Mutch, Keshi Anderson, Sullay Kaikai, Martin Kelly, Freddie Ladapo, Hiram Boateng and Jason Puncheon. Wilfried Zaha is arguably English as well.

Then there are quite a few British and Irish players, they don't have a huge foreign contingent really.
