i remember that game last season, leeds' goal was an absolute screamer.....it was a fairly even, exciting game until fabregas and van persie came on and killed the game off

Somehow, it gives both clubs an incentive to make the replay at Boundary Park an intriguing match. The way that Oldham are playing better away from home must give Southend United a good chance of progressing.

Bit of a difference between Newcastle - Sunderland and Southend - Oldham though!
Not so for SS4 however...17 unbeaten as well - a joint club record. As much as I can't believe I'm saying this, Southend are proving tough to beat at present. Allowing for all competitions they have the longest unbeaten run in the English Leagues at present (City have lost in Europe)...
I will be gutted if the Fourth Round Draw throws up a Merseyside derby! And were Oldham to face them it would be even worse because it would show that Liverpool can lose to lower League opposition and that Southend blew their chance! :cry:

I've seen a few do it, especially subject to the opposition. In particular, when Southend played Man U the day after Fergie's 20th anniversary, every West Ham fan I knew was a Southend fan for the evening! Otherwise though, I think they prefer Orient or Dagenham unless they're local to the area.

Mostly, I find it's because they just want to watch some football. Having said that, Mr Hearn's recent comments may see a lot of them decide against Brisbane Road.

But there is a genuine possiblity that Orient could hit trouble subject to the Olympic Stadium malarkey, which even most Southend fans would probably hate to see (if nothing else, it's one less club to hate or laugh at).
Anything's got to be better than the Emirates or White Hart Lane though. Orient aside, the only clubs that are easy to get to that aren't genuine competition to West Ham are Dagenham and Southend - both of whom we've already mentioned :roll:
So what would you make of your fixture? Wednesday have a good few supporters on here and aren't doing too badly (for once!)...

If we win we're 15th (potentially 14th if we win by a crazy amount of goals). I know people might laugh but I wouldn't necessarily put off a 4-0 win for Wolves against Sunderland, given the amount of high-profile teams we either won against or nearly-won-but-for-the-90th-minute last season.

Stratford is in the historical borough of West Ham and is now part of Newham. West Ham (and Thames Ironworks before them) have always played in Newham.
Leyton Orient are in Waltham Forest, but are happy to move into Newham, if West Ham don't. They were also happy for Tottenham to move into Newham from Haringey. They can't have it all ways.
And they didn't mind too much about killing off Leyton/Leyton Wingate, Walthamstow Pennant and Walthamstow Avenue (all successful amateur clubs at the time) when they moved into Leyton from Clapton, which is in Hackney.

It's not going to be an easy one. Historically, it's not a place we do well at. And it depends what side Allardyce puts out. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he decides to 'concentrate on the League' and field a second XI.

Sorry, but this will be a non-starter as far as the football authorities will see it. You cannot stop people choosing to watch whatever team they want to. Draw a comparison to supermarket expansion.

Well, this coming Saturday will see how well it has been spent when you come to Boundary Park to play Oldham Athletic. I would feel far happier if we were playing at Hillsborough, as our away form is far better than our home form. We also have a home tie on Tuesday in the JP Trophy semi-final north against Bradford City.
You can't tell fans what team they go to watch but what's wrong with them travelling from where they live to see their team? Upton Park isn't far from Stratford but is not right next to Leyton. By moving so close to another team you threaten to kill off a lot of their fanbase. As for superstore expansion, I am not convinced this is a good thing as it has can kill off the independent high street stores.

Wednesday of this week will see how Mancini will have (or have not) installed a modicum of mental toughness in the Manchester City team this season, when they play their final group stage of the Champions League at home to Bayern Munich, who are top of that group and who beat Manchester City in the match in Germany. The other group match between Villarreal and Napoli can also have a bearing on which teams will progress through to the next stage.
Manchester United, whilst undefeated in the group stage, have drawn three of their five matches, and were fortunate to escape with a 3-3 draw against FC Basel at Old Trafford and they too have to play well (and win) against the stage group leaders if they too are to progress. Again, the other group match between Benfica and O.Galati will have a bearing on which teams progress.
