Good win for Stoke that and with Burnley drawing 0-0 to Man Utd it mean is first time since 2008 that both Manchester club didn't win on same day as they were playing.
Oldham finally won a game this season as they beat Doncaster 2-0, Clarke-Harris scored his first goal for season and Forte have now scored four in five matches for Latics.
I see you got your wish today as Hyde finally ended they losing run by drawing 2-2 to Tamworth.

Two goals by Chelsea in the first three minutes gave them a good start to this match, which saw them return to the top spot of the Premiership.
Everton, with two draws and a defeat so far this season, are now two places in the league below that of Manchester United and have conceded 10 goals in their first three games.

Man Utd a team in need of improved defence has seemingly signed another attacker...... Going for the score more goals than the opposition being the best form of defence.
I can't quite work how RVP, Rooney, di Maria, Mata and Falcoa will all fit in and keep them all happy. Then again this is a manager who played Kuyt at wing back. Must signal Wellbeck and Hernandez departures though.

Hernandez seems to be on his way out, Welbeck who knows?
To be honest, I don't really understand where we're going.... Di Maria does not naturally fit into the 3-5-2 system which has been implemented without the players for it. It relies on 3 centre halves for a start - Jones and Evans are good enough, the others aren't. Also have to bear in mind that we have a lot of injuries at the moment, although I still think that reverting back to 4-4-2 is the way forward.
I mean, a back 4 of Shaw / Jones / Evans / Rafael doesn't sound that bad. While we've been conceding, we've been creating nothing and the Swansea game after such a positive pre-season was such a disappointment.

What is needed is two high-quality centre-backs, not the two average players that you name. Can you imagine either Jones or Evans commanding a back-four central defenders role in the Bayern Munich side ?

You say average, but things can change very quickly. Demechillis (wrong spelling, I know) had an awful first half to last season, and is now doing very well for himself, displacing Nastasic who I thought was the one for the next 10 years in the Man City defence.
Evans looked comfortable and managed to displace Rio when he stayed fit, alongside Vidic.

Well there's a surprise. Just as Arsenal fans warned me, one good season, then he'll be injury prone.
If Welbeck doesn't leave, then that's not the worst thing to ever happen. At least he's lively when he comes on, if (more than) a little clumsy in possession.

Debatable, the only really stand-out names in Bayern's defence are Dante and Philip Lahm. Similarly Atletico's only real big-name defender was Diego Godin during the last season when they won La Liga and lost the CL Final in extra time. OK, Evans and Jones mightn't go down in history, but there are very few big European teams who have perfect defences.

Those 2 players are just not very good and certainly not anywhere near good enough for a team who must at least be hoping for a top half this season.

Yes. Together with Marcus Rojo and Luke Shaw United's defence is starting to look so dodgy!

I am sure that he could be one, given his ability to read the game. I suppose the term of defensive midfielder would be more apt to describe his usual role.

Ashley Cole has been England's best defender of the last decade and has a brilliant ability to read the game, but I never recall him making the transition from LB to CB
Ah come on, Jones and Evans aren't less than perfect, they are far beyond less than perfect. I wouldn't have them in Liverpools defence which has been less than perfect of late.
Dirk Kuyt was not a wing back but LVG seemed to do ok making him into one.,...
The fact that Dirk Kuyt is a top class footballer helped.

To be honest, at Man United at the moment, everything is over-dramatised. All the 'hmm not sure players' are now 'pure crap' in the eyes of the media, but this is the result of the club seeming to just throw money around with little consideration of how it's going to work.

Maybe not something we will ever agree on but Kuyt is quality. He is in my opinion a hell of a lot better than Evans or Jones or Luke Shaw and he isn't even a defender.

He's a grafter, I'll give him that. Adaptable too. Not quite sure on his quality though.
You say he's better than Shaw/Jones/Evans. Just remember that Shaw is only 19 and Jones 22. They've hardly finished their development and are at the peak of their career.

Just throwing my tuppence worth in here .... As things standds, Luke Shaw will be a quality left back for years to come, but his move to Man Utd has come a year or 2 too soon. He would have benefited more being the first choice left back at Southampton, playing week in, week out, instead of possibly being in a rotation system at Man Utd.
Phil Jones needs a season out on loan where he can be the first choice centran defender, instead of being played where ever he's needed in the team. That will do his confidence no end of good.
Evans and Welbeck I would sell at the first opportunity. Evans looks error prone, and I've never rated Welbeck.

Has not Welbeck now signed for Arsenal ? Perhaps a move away from Manchester United to another club with a different style pattern of play could help his career.....as happened to Diego Forlan, who went from strength to strength, after leaving Manchester United.
