can't have a rule for one, and one for another, can we???<(

Yes, because as already stated, they are two completely different situations. Livingston were relegated to Division 3 because they breached the rules on insolvency after they were placed into administration, Rangers have not breached this rule.

What is the average gate in Scottish Division Three matches ? I know that Queens Park play at Hampden Park with a capacity now of 52,500 but the next largest ground is that of Clyde, Broadwood Stadium, with a capacity of only 8,029.

Should Rangers be consigned to this league, the club will only be allowed a very small ticket allocation for away matches because of the very limited size of the ground capacity of those clubs (excluding Queens Park, of course,) compared with what they are used to in the Scottish Premier League. Will the extra policing costs incurred by the clubs in this league when and if Rangers play on these grounds, be helped to be met by the Scottish FA.

Why should they? If the club can't control the ticket sales, or its "fans", and there is trouble, then that club should be punished. Why effectively punish the rest by getting them to contribute through the central organisation?

I see and understand the point that you are making, but should the matter in hand actually occur, it will impose a burden upon the Scottish Third Division Clubs with their very limited financial resources on the two days when Rangers come to play there. (I assume that the clubs in that division still play two homes matches and two away matches against the other clubs in a league season).

None of this hypothetical discussion, though, would reflect a matter that the Scottish Third Division Clubs were instrumental in seeking, but one that was foisted upon them by the Scottish FA.

That's true. Perhaps the best solution all round would be to confine Rangers to the grave

I'm beginning to think that is what all the Scottish teams want, i.e. to make sure Rangers are kicked out of all Scottish football for ever! Well at least I've seen a few fans want that (then again it will probably do scottish football a lot of damage if that did happen!)

In today's Metro it was stated Beckham had been snubbed  [not a sarcastic roll but a long sigh]. Unless definitions have changed since I was a lad to snub is deny something to someone despite them being qualified/the best for the the aforementioned thing.

Beckham was never a fantastic player a la Giggs and Richards. He could take set pieces but not much else.
I am a little disappointed ol' Psycho didn't pick himself - one last hurrah for one of the game's true defenders but also glad that any memory of him is not spoilt :p
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Rangers are trying the same excuse the banks used in 2008 - that they're too big to fail.

It's up to the other clubs to prove them wrong

I suppose he wants to look well enough to start off his new four-year contract when the Premiership season starts in seven weeks time. Mind you, to have a back problem as his at the age of only 22 is not a good thing.

I'm sure on his miniscule salary he can afford a good osteopath (spell )

Are there any Scottish players in the GB squad ?

No doubt he'll be fit as a butcher's dog when the season rolls around though :p
Ryan Giggs is usually pulled from internationals as well - if His High Ferginess doesn't pull him this time, i guess that is a signal he isn't wanted at OT.

Scottish football is incapable of producing players of real talent(with the possible exception of Steven Fletcher)

This situation will only get worse as more and more foreign players are recruited.

Well Darren Fletcher isn't that bad either. He's no Steven G or Xavi, but a player with real talent anyway. (more so than Steven Fletcher I'd have said)

Possibly, when Wolves sell Fletcher in the next few weeks you'll see him get a load of goals assuming he goes to a decent team.

That's true. It's easier to score goals surrounded by better quality players than those of Wolves' or his previous club Burnley's standard.

How old is he? 26/27?

A very anti Scottish post and frankly a load of single fish mate. Fletcher came from the golden era at Hibs, along with Scott brown, Kevin Thomson, Steven Whitaker who's just singed for Norwich. Gary Caldwell at Wigan and these are just former Hibs players. Unable to produce talent my erchie.

A case of the pot calling the kettle black - you reap what you sow after your previous comments about England in Euro 2012

None of the above would get into the England team and frankly compared to Gerrard, Terry, Lampard and Rooney plus Bale and Bellamy (from Wales) they are small Fry.

I can remember when it was so different Dalglish Souness and Hansen

Fair comment haha.

Lampard and terry haven't kicked a baw for months, passed it now Gerard's not got many international years left in him either. Bellamy and bale 2 good players in a crap welsh team.

I can remember when it was so different Dalglish Souness and Hansen

Alan Hansen aka Mr England on MOTD. Heard people say he was carried in that Liverpool side.

Not anti-Scottish at all, I spend half my life in Scotland because of my job,I love the place.

I am being realistic.

Scotland has produced some excellent players in the past but now it is on life support and waiting for somebody to pronounce life extinct.

He was carried for a long while then, as he was part of a liverpool team that won 22 cups and titles in the 15 years he was there, so he couldn't have been that bad .....

Anyway, part of the problem for Scottish (and English) football, is with the pressure from directors and fans for results and success as quickly as possible, managers can't play the "long game" in getting a decent youth system setup and having players work their way through. Instead they have to buy either overpriced players from other domestic clubs, or a cheaper, but just as good player from elsewhere. Only Alex Ferguson and to an extent, Arsene Wenger go against this trend, preferring to sign/promote young players into their teams mixed with a few experienced players from elsewhere.

Oh, in other news, Danny Guthrie and Pavel Pogrebnyak have signed for Reading, the latter subject to a work permit being granted.

Also, Brentford have bought land between Kew Bridge station and the M4 with the view to building a new 15,000 capacity stadium in time for the start of the 2016/17 season.
