Rich, I won't pretend to know too much about your situation and from what I have read you've not been treated well but one thing that you don't seem to realise is that fans don't matter. I'm not going to try to show you some kind of analogy but I've learned enough around the non-league circuit over the years that they simply don't matter!

My real gripe here is seeing how clubs have taken a two division relegation hit and won promotion back to where they were within two or three seasons. The current system is a mockery.

I agree! There needs to be a punishment. God knows the various people in charge of the club have shown a less than prudent approach to financial affairs!

If only the FA would follow the rules they have set themselves. Mind you the rules make the encyclopaedia Britannica look slim! I make no further comment on what has gone before but:

IF we are a new club (a Phoenix club I think they are termed by the FA) then the highest we can start is the Northern League. We could be placed lower. This seems to be to do with the issuing of a new "footballing share"

IF we are not a new club but play at Shildon the highest we can play is the Northern League as this is the highest level their ground is rated at.

IF we are not a new club but agree a CVA then we should play at BSN level. (if we had a suitable ground and they accept us)

IF we are a new club then we have no need to try for a CVA but will have to start at Northern League Level or lower.

IF we are not a new club and have no CVA we should be placed in the Evo Stick Premier league. It would be likely in this case that we would be demoted from here as the BSN rightly follow the same rules as the BSP with regard to the exit of administration and would throw us out.

The FA then has the power to impose any sanction they feel is appropriate in exceptional circumstances. They have used this and a combination of the above! To me a fair punishment would be demotion to the Evo Stick league, most likely league 1, perhaps with a suspended point deduction against our future financial behaviour and exclusion from FA cup competitions for the first season. This would suggest a sensible threat of future punishment to other wrong doers mitigated in our case by the fact that the fans saved the club with their own resources and are seeking to run the club sensibly, democratically and correctly in the future Further acknowledgement that the fans raised money to ensure we completed the season and preserved the integrity of the FA completion would also be sensible and warmly welcomed.. A financial penalty would be of little practical purpose as we have little money.

An appeal based on three points is to be lodged but the new board say that they can not reveal the basis of that appeal before it is heard. One strand is expected to be the potential for crowd unpleasantness if large numbers of fans travel to games. For once in my life we have a prospect of being the big club! There is a further potential unpleasantness based upon the fact that many northern league teams are based on the Durham coast which is close to our great rivals Hartlepooh United. The police appear less than happy about this prospect!

Finally, I would also like an acknowledgement from the FA that their "fit and proper persons test" and the sanctions they can impose on those who have a hand in causing these problems is insufficient and they have no choice but to punish those trying to sort the mess out.

I have long suspected that football fans are a mere inconvenience to the FA but this action has confirmed the same!

My apologies for not giving the matter more thought before making this posting......Howsoever, we all have our "off-days" and this has most certainly been the case for me, with having to get out of a warm bed to answer a "wrong number" telephone call for a taxi at 0300 () approximately, then a series of meetings, scheduled to finish at 1300..that carried on until 1500, without a meal break.

I have never stuck my head into the rulebooks, I'm not Colin Peake, although he only lives a few roads away, because it makes my brain hurt but the football authorities need to be seen to be punishing badly run clubs, whether the fans suffer or not. It's just a shame that it's not being done to a proper BIG club.

I know! It is odd that the Northern league is a higher standard than the Evo Stick North 1! The Northern League teams don’t want the extra travel costs associated with a predominantly Lancashire/Yorkshire based league found in the Evo Stick and prefer being the big fish in the northern league pond

The rule book made my head hurt as well! It is incredible!

Grant Holt, the Norwich City striker who has been with the club for three years had put in a transfer request.....and the club have rejected it.

I suppose at the age of 31, he is looking to finish the remainder of his career with a large club that can offer him a large salary increase.

It's been reported that FIFA have started to get involved with the farce taking place north of the Border.

As much as I am against FIFA I think they should intervene, after all Rangers did break the rules of the game by involving a civil court.

As someone who has sided with Rangers, I'd much take them over Celtic any day of the week, I think that it is incomprehensible how it's so likely that they will get away with their financial meltdown.

UEFA seem to have their own rule structure in place to cover events as this. They reserve the right to view each offence on its own merits.

Can you imagine the length of match ban that they would have given to Joey Barton, had his disgraceful and tastless display of petulance against Manchester City culminating in the final events on the pitch, had been in a European competition such as the Champions League ?

The matter is that the punishment for missing such an iconic match as the Champions League Final was reported by certain "European" sports journalists that this ban was going to be the end of the matter, but UEFA did not take heed of such European sports journalistic "tittle-tattle" of those who know little, but fill many column inches with their own "self-important pontifications"....and decided that a further two matches were to be imposed on top of that one-match ban, in the coming Champions League matches in the 2012/2013 season, giving the breakdown analysis of this three-match ban as their reason.

So called sports-papers of the type as "Gazzetto dello Sport" and their ilk have just as many "self-important" sports reporting journalists as are found spouting rubbish on the "sports pages" at the rear of any of the British "redtops"....

The Italian coach, Cesare Prandelli, said that the second half was very poor in the application of the match tactics by their defence (which was quite strong "on paper"). He then went on to say that there would be no problem in his eyes if the Italian national team withdrew from the Euro 2012 tournement, as a result of the match-fixing allegations in the Italian domestic football leagues.

The latest news about the matter is there there are now no less than 33 matches with "unusual" results that are subject to scrutiny.

Here's a conundrum for you. When they say the three "R's" for reading, writing and arithmatic, because each word has the letter "r" in it, could they have called it the three "I's" instead, as the letter "i" also features in all those three words.

Kelly has played 2 minutes for England and its his first season with Liverpool yet he gets picked over Rio for football reasons.

The FA and Hodgson should hang there heads in shame, football reason no chance, yet again the wrong person has suffered through the mistakes of others, surely Mr Terry should of been made to suffer, regardless of how England do in the tournament.

The irony is outstanding. Ferdinand, Lampard, Terry, Cole - they're all getting old and should be used sparingly if at all or at the most as a unifying factor for our kids.

He can only call up players from his squad of which Ferdinand is not one. Two friendlies and already people are slagging the manager off - it's hardly surprising nobody sticks around long. :roll:

Not really. I'm disappointed in the BBC not stating what he was arrested for. It implies public order offences which I'd believe from watching road wars is Section 5 of the Public Order Act - essentially a catch all for antisocial behaviour.
I do not like to comment further before a verdict has been reached though.
