A bit of nostalgia for times gone by.

My eldest two kids stayed at mine last night and this morning have just set off on the 515ish miles round trip to watch Halifax at Yeovil. I used to love doing stuff like that 30 odd years ago, albeit when I had a company car, free fuel, a back that didn't seize up if I sit still for more than 20 minutes, and a lot more energy that I do these days

Over nine hours of driving, lunch in a Spoons, and a 1-0 away win. Back by 22:30 and they even picked me up from the pub to save me getting the bus

What a day!

A good win for Darlo:

Darlington 1 v Buxton 0 FA trophy 17th preliminary round.

Darlo played well in the second half, perhaps the best we have played all season, battered a good Buxton side but couldn't make the break through until stoppage time. Into the hat for the next round this afternoon and just shy of £4k better off!

Season is starting to unravel a bit for Scunthorpe United. On the 9th, they lost 3-2 at home to Buxton, then on Saturday, Warrington Rylands became the second lower league team this season to knock them out of a cup.

I doubt they’ll be terribly fussed about being out of the Trophy.

Yes a great tie for us at Stockton Town. Oldham currently 3 steps above us so dare we dream of a 'giant killing'? It will be interesting as our ground capacity is officially 1800 & I've seen online people asking whether any temporary measures can be made to increase capacity for the game.

Some options: Middlesbrough's ground is probably the most suitable. Possibly Hartlepool. Not sure what Billingham Town's capacity is. Or as @DarloRich suggests Darlingtons ground.
I'm not sure whether Billingham Town would be co-operative as we currently let Billingham Synthonia use our ground & there is some 'rankle' shall we say between those two clubs.

we got 400 away tickets in the end. If playing at the smaller team ground you get what you get.

West Didsbury v Darlington (FA Cup) was restricted to 1,320 tickets in total. Don't think Darlington quite sold out their entire allocation. They were entitled to at least 15% (= 198) of the ground capacity at Brookburn Road, so presumably they got allocated around twice that many.

We weren't segregated at West Didsbury and everyone entered through the same turnstiles. The bar did a roaring trade

30 years ago, now. Two teams from the North West and they decided to play the match at Wembley. Replay was played, more sensibly, at the old Maine Road stadium.

Stockton Town have issued a brief statement on their website.

After yesterday’s exciting news that we will face Oldham Athletic at home in the FA Trophy, Stockton Town would like to communicate the following information.

The club, Oldham Athletic and the local authorities are discussing suitable match arrangements.

We know fans will be eager to know these arrangements but please bear with us while we complete this exercise. We will communicate more information once this is done.

Some fans are expressing concerns about security on the Facebook page - we also face FC United of Manchester on Saturday at home. The layout at Stocktons ground is everyone comes through the turnstile and into the small stands with seats on that side of the pitch. To the right behind the goal is a small stand called The Shed where people stand and that's were the people go who sing / chant. The other sides of the pitch are standing next to the pitch fence so fans from both teams are generally mixed together. Reading comments on Facebook, I think we have been fairly lucky so far that there has been no real trouble at times.

Three of tomorrow’s games called off already across the top six divisions. Two of them are the games at Halifax and Darlington.

The Halifax game is off because the pitch is frozen but as is normal these days loads of Halifax fans are blaming the chairman (“uff uff uff, why doesn’t he invest some money”) and the council who are our landlords (“blooming rubbish Calderfail, is this what I pay my council tax for?”)

all clubs have bananas following them - I particularly love the comments on social media along the lines of "my house is 5 minutes down the road and the garden is fine"!
