It is quite obvious that many of those commentators on here having a go at football fans have never seen what Rugby fans get up to. They aint no shrinking violets and after a few or shall i say quite a few drinks they want to fight everyone.

Try York Races or the Cheltenham Festival for the very worst of bad behaviour. Absolutely appalling. The difference being, a football crowd can be easily managed as a homogenous group; small groups of ****ed up racegoers cannot.

Can't speak for York or Cheltenham but trains post-Aintree Grand National meeting tend to be packed, (actually, very noisy) ... but good-humoured. And the language is generally less offensive than with football fans. Rugby fans, in my experience, tend to be foul-mouthed in the ground but less so around 'civilians'. Unless they're French in which case they're brilliant! :D

In fairness though few if any of these Germans seemed intent on trouble and I think a few questions do need to be asked about Arsenal football club and the ticketing arrangements. I've been to a few Bundesliga games, always a cracking atmosphere and very little trouble.

Like most football fans the majority were behaved but there was a nasty element bent on causing trouble.
As for trouble there is plenty at Bundesliga games probably more so than here these days.
Have you been to a Schalke - BVB game ?
..and the lower leagues there are worse , Dresden, Rostock, Cottbus are all places away followers dread going to.

Not really sure it helps when 300 fans turn up at a station and pile onto a train and there's not enough seats for everyone. Think some other passengers over react to fans at times and the railway doesn't cope too well with large amounts of fans just tipping up all at once.

I've been part of a group of football supporters on trains before and seen everyone behaving fine. Other times there's been a loud and perhaps intimidating minority. On occasion such as coming home from the play-off final, the loud minority have actually overstepped the mark and BTP got involved.

I've also been on trains with football supporters that I wasn't a part of, and my experiences have been very similar. Even when travelling alongside opposition fans it has rarely become a problem and it's not as if I'm not easily intimidated!

BUT (come on, you knew there was one coming!) I'm a regular user of Huddersfield to Batley stoppers, and some of the antics from the ale-trail idiots are far far worse than almost everything I've seen to do with football fans anywhere. Still a minority of the group but a far larger minority.

it is regrettably entirely possible that a football match could be the next idea for somebody with a "bag for death" packed full of explosives.

It already was the idea over in France back in November 2015, the Stade-de-France was attacked with explosives, alongside other attacks at the time. I'd 100% expect increased BTP and regular police presence at high profile games, as it's already been demonstrated that football matches are a target.
