Having once been served "tea" (on a BA flight) from a jug which had clearly previously been used for serving coffee, but without having been thoroughly rinsed, the answer is "No, not really!".

This week it was the turn of milk two-pinters to increase in price. 11% this time round or 35% since November 2021. Fairy Non-bio soap powder repackaged in different sized boxes, masking an increase from £2.88 to either £3.08 or £3.42 per kg - depending on whether you move up to a bigger pack or down to a smaller pack. Last year it was £2.60 per kg.
not everywhere is suffering inflation, indeed Ive found prices in Poland, Belgium, Holland, France, Italy, Greece, Malta this summer all to be very cheap, and prices generally unchanged in 3 years.

4. compare pictures uploaded by reviewers going back years.
Meanwhile at this restaurant in Rome, italy last night, I found the same menu and prices last night, as they were in 2019..

Was shocked at the price of chicken breasts in ASDA on Friday. £4.60 for a 700g pack (4 med breasts)... The larger packs that used to be £4.60 are now almost £6. It would be cheaper to by a whole chicken, but as neither myself or daughter eat the dark meat of legs and wings it would just be wasteful.

I’m not random googling nor am I pontificating on the internet.. I’m buying train and plane tickets and seeing these places first hand with my own eyes.
Just saying what I’m seeing, Europe feels very cheap right now compared to the UK.
A hand made pizza in the food equivalent of Leicester sq of Rome (Piazza Campo Fiori) .. is half the cost of a dominos pizza in The UK… you make your own choices what you buy, but to me uK prices are out of control, but Europe is steaming along just fine in the 10 countries I’ve visited since April.. but if you read the BBC you’d be forgiven for thinking Europe was in Armageddon, when it’s clearly not to me on the spot. Happy to share receipts and restaurants to show I’m not staying in any dives… the propoganda being fed in the Uk media is not what I’m seeing on the streets of Europe.

Reading the constant doom and gloom about the UK media and seeing inflation there when I pop back in, vs Europe leads me to think the £ is probably over valued right now by about 75% which suggests maybe a correction in currency is due to rebalance.

The plural of anecdote is not data. The inflation figures stated are averages over a whole country, you appear to have been lucky and found places where for the particular items you've been buying the price hasn't been rising as fast as other items.

I think that it's fair to say that a lot of bars and restaurants have increased prices not just because of the current economic issues but to recover the lost profits during the pandemic.
There's an argument that says this is understandable given the pressures they were under, but another that points out many customers also suffered and aren't swimming in money - especially now.
As has been predicted elsewhere (perhaps even on here?), we'll likely see people still holidaying this year (they've been stuck at home for so long) and going out to eat, drink and so on - then the rising prices in the autumn will have everyone suddenly tighten their belts. Many may have to dip into credit cards, loans or overdrafts - especially if they want to 'enjoy' Christmas.
Plans for next year trips might be put on hold, and one quick and easy way to reduce expenditure is to stop going to restaurants or ordering in food. Of course that sounds sensible and logical, but it's not a good thing for the hospitality sector, the economy as a whole or our general wellbeing. If we simply work to pay bills but can't enjoy going out, many will wonder what the purpose of living is!

Today, for the first time in quite a while, my Tesco home delivery order contained no substitutions and no items unavailable. There were items unavailable when placing my order though.
Anchor 750g spread, the offer price is now £5.25 up from £5.15.
Rich Tea biscuits 50p up from 40p.
Finest Fishcakes £2.60 up from £2.50.

In Portugal, we usually refer to airline coffee as "coffee tea" or "teaffee" because of how diluted it is.
I guess that, from your description, asking for coffee or tea on a BA flight would essentially be the exact same thing, but named differently.
In Aldi a small pack 300g(e) was £1.69, now crept up to £2.15.
Also No Added Sugar Muesli 1.1kg was £1.69 up to £1.89 then last week £1.99. 1.1kg in Asda from the website now £2.50.
Lidl had 750g at 99p then last week £1.15.
A ~400g pack of Thin Cut Beef Steaks in Tesco have jumped up from around £3.50 to £4.44, Aldi have stopped selling so no more price match

What I have also noticed is the rounding off of prices. A lot of the own brand items would often be 43p or 76p or 82p etc, now it seems to be 50p, 90p, £1 Looking at my receipt, the only items that didn't end in a 5 or 0 was own brand paracetamol (29p) and own brand orange juice at 69p. Everything else ends in multiples of 5.....

I try to buy my meat from our local butcher. It's good quality and I like to support the small business.
I've just bought four sausages, two chicken breasts, about a dozen mushrooms and an onion. It came to £8.50. I don't expect Aldi prices but that feels quite expensive to me, compared to what I was paying a few months ago.

My reading of the news is that, primarily due to climatic reasons, potatoes are going to rocket in price. They will no longer be a cheap way of filling up what Katherine Whitehorn described as that potato-shaped space.

From today, 10 pack slices of cheese, used to be 2 for £3 then went to 2 for £3.50 up to last week, now increased to 2 for £4.50.
Tinned ham £2.90 to £3.29. Frozen pizza, used to be 99p, went to £1.19 a few weeks ago. now this week to £1.49. Various multi-pack bakery pies & sausage rolls from £2 to £2.50.
Partner & I have both decided it's time to look elsewhere.

For a while one of my local shops was holding its milk prices down. I was buying it for £1.05 for a 2 pint carton up until a week or so ago while the Costcutter up the road put up its price to £1.35 some time ago. They're now both charging the same.
A jar of Kenco coffee was £3.50 this time last year, went up to £3.70 and is now priced at £4.00. I only ever bought it there if I'd run out, but if that happens again I'll do without until I can get to Aldi.

I agree. Out of all the supermarkets Morrisons are the most pricey. I've stopped going there now for some weeks now. Even Sainsbury's has better prices. To be honest we use places such as Home Bargains, Poundland, Pounstretcher etc for sweets, crisps, toiletries etc and only really use supermarkets for fresh fruit and chilled food mainly.

That is crazy - £4.50 for 20 slices of cheese. That is 22p per slice!
Give it a couple of weeks and they'll have some new 'price cuts'.

It's crazy. I used to buy the Kenco Smooth (in a red jar) but when the big jars reached £5 I switched to own-brand gold. Now the own-brands are not far off £5.
Fortunately Sainsburys put an offer in the My Nectar Prices app which made the price reasonable. I bought enough jars to last me until the end of 2023. I've also been stocking up on other long life items when there are decent offers, like tea bags, washing powder and dishwasher tablets. Problem is I ran out of cupboard space in the kitchen. The next guest to stay in my spare bedroom is in for a surprise if they open the wardrobe!
