A friend of mine who ironically has an ex-BR rail pass but has left it at home!!! is stuck in Folkestone and needs to get home on Tuesday. Quick check for a single is £91.30 or split London £84.40. Any better splitting points or any better fares known please?

10:56 arrives 11:51 Folkestone Central [FKC] - London St Pancras International [STP] 0h55m

11:51 arrives 12:26 London St Pancras International [STP] - London Euston [EUS] 0h35m

12:40 arrives 14:49 London Euston [EUS] 13 Manchester Piccadilly [MAN] 2h09m

£39.50 Advance ticket

Then just grab a local service at manchester for Warrington Central or Bank Quay for £6.80

Or there are more £39.50 Advace Ticets available to Crewe, but it's then £9.80 for an "anytime" single to Warrington.

Many thanks for your very helpful reply. I just checked the price and yes £39.50 single to Man Pic. I then did a check on price to Runcorn as it's a lot closer to Warrington and its same price as the Manchester ticket so it looks like Runcorn is the one to get. Very much obliged .

Alternatively,
Advance single from Folkestone to Wolverhampton £28.50 available on most morning off peak trains leaving Folkestone at XX.09 routing is via HS1 and then Stafford on the Liverpool service. Std single Stafford to Warrington Bank Quay £17.

Thank you Paul, I have in fact just spoken to my friend and she is happy with the Runcorn ticket. Where we live in Warrington it's only about 4 miles from Runcorn so easy to pick up. She is getting the 9.09 from Folkestone which as a price of £39.50 to Runcorn. Out of curiosity did the price you quote £28.50 + £17 include the fare between Wol - Sta ?

John, I think he meant to get off the Wolverhampton train at Stafford, as it is routed that way. If you buy the second ticket before you join the first train in London then you don't need to exit the station at Stafford (which iirc does not have barriers anyway) so can technically get away with the 'No BOJ' condition on an AP ticket.
