Received an email from Southeastern yesterday as follows:
"Network Rail monitoring has detected ground movement affecting the line between Dover and Folkestone, following the wettest February for 200 years.
Regular checks are being carried out on the line and a temporary speed restriction is in place. We’ve made some limited-service changes to allow us to provide a reliable and robust train service while Network Rail assess the work needed.
Service summary:
We will contact you again when we are able to return to our normal timetable.
Thank you for your patience and we're sorry for any inconvenience caused."
There have been loads of landslips in the Folkestone area over the past couple of months and the concrete area down by the Warren looks like it's been hit by a minor earthquake. The line at the base of the cliffs has always been difficult - I hope NR can find a way of stabilising it as they've done in the past, but it looks to be a potentially massive piece of work.
From a timetable point of view it looks like our off-peak slows will be running fast from Sandling to Folkestone Central, which must be a first. The planner also offers a xx.13 from Folkestone West to Dover, changing at Westenhanger, which must be another first. No fare offered, possibly because no-one in their right mind would do that.

- Folkestone West services are reduced off-peak towards Dover.
- Dover to Charing Cross services will leave two minutes earlier, running as planned from Folkestone Central.
- Journey times will be extended by a few minutes between Folkestone, Dover and Ramsgate, and some trains will leave a few minutes earlier.
