Ah, the good old Flying Scotsman in construction! Is there a shot of the finished train? It certainly looks an impressive project!
Well seeing as they only put it back on its frames yesterday I think it's a bit early for a shot of the finished project! 
However if you google Flying Scotsman I'm sure you will find plenty of photos from before the NRM took it to pieces.

A rough estimate would be around £400,000. If you have that then crack on! If I had it I think I might be tempted with another locomotive newbuild.

Well the trees in my garden weren't growing money the last time I checked, so I'll have to leave the poor guy to waste!

If I had 400 grand to spare, then look at an "unrebuilding" project, which can't cost all that much more.
Oh, and I'd've bought GNER off Sea Containers somehow, and you'd be seeing Garter/Marlborough blue HSTs by now.

I've always wanted to see a HST in black (I know Grand Central have black HST's, but one without all the livery). That would look awesome!
Ah yes, the much discussed £4472,000,000. I'm not really into steam but respect why many are, and appreciate the engineering aspect. I admit they can be evocative and full of character. Like i said though, I'm not into them, diesel being my thing.
However if ever there was an over rated kettle, its 4472. It's like a Z list celebrity. Everyone has heard of it, but no one has a clue why its famous. I get sick of hearing about it to be honest, and I'm not impressed with the amount of tax payers money that's been lavished upon it over the years, to the detriment of other items in the National collection particularly those from a more recent era.
I would rather the money be spent on getting a really worthwhile locos sorted out, such as Mallard or the streamlined Dutchess. There's no reason why 4472 couldn't be funded by the private sector if there was a genuine demand for it. Anyway, that's my take on it.

I believe that Duchess will be done up to come into use when 4472's boiler ticket expires.... thats tha plan i read other day anyway. I would muich rather see duchess in steam than 4472 or mallard(simply because there are other A4's out there)
